Caleb, Jackson, and Davis

For those that wish Hubert would bench Caleb- well his faith in him helped us get Jackson. As a fan on twitter said: it paid off on the recruiting trail and will hopefully pay off on the court once more this March.

Why did five-star guard Ian Jackson pick UNC over Kentucky? "You have to go where you feel comfortable, and (where) you can make mistakes and they’ll stick with you.”

Ian Jackson Update (1-16: Heavy UNC buzz on the final day)

Sources close to five-star Ian Jackson told Rivals that his trip to North Carolina over this past weekend went excellent. The 2024 wing hit it off with Tar Heels head coach Hubert Davis and Jackson and his company really enjoyed how much of a down to earth guy that he is. Jackson also likes the family feel in Chapel Hill.

As for his recruitment, Rivals is told that a decision is expected by the end of January and it’s seen as a “neck to neck” race between North Carolina and Kentucky. Kentucky holds the lead in Rivals FutureCasts, but apparently the Tar Heels made a very strong impression on the visit and this could come down to the wire.

Class of 2023 Football Recruiting (Update: 12-21: Lora, Louie Commit to UNC)

Okay, the staff is getting increasingly aggressive with class of 2023 prospects and we believe will hit them hard this spring and summer, so we are launching the 2023 thread. We will post all content and related notes to the class in this thread.

Scheduling strategy

I have been in the camp of hating OOC games against non-P5 opponents. But, this whole transfer portal has me re-thinking scheduling strategy for the future. Let’s bring in the top non-P5 opponents to CH and it gives our coaches a chance to evaluate, first hand, these kids and it also gives the kids a chance to see our campus and facilities. We aren’t going to be able to pull a bunch of P5 stars here through the portal, so why not get a head start on more realistic options?

Should Trimble look to shoot some

I hope it is not a mental thing after having all three shots taken in close during the first half of the Virginia game blocked but to this observer he seems to be a little hesitant to shoot from the outside when he is in the game…

He seems to be a spark 🔥 off the bench especially defensively when he comes in to replace one of the starting guards but when he and Black are in the squad suffers offensively because of the lack of scorers…

Yes I know his main job is to be a facilitator but to keep the opponents honest he must at least launch a few jumpers or go strong to the hole every now and then.

Dunn got so many minutes Saturday because he played solid defense on Ellis and he looked to score when the opportunity arose especially when Davis was in foul trouble…

Trimble is quick and has some hops so I am hoping as the season progresses he will help the Heels by shooting the rock 🪨 a little more…

Has anyone else noticed that Trimble seems to be a little hesitant at this time in taking jumpers?

Who Would You Start Against Boston College

Dunn had a very nice game against Louisville and Puff did well, too. Assuming Pete is still out and Armando is good to go, I'd start

RJ
Dunn
Puff
Leaky
Armando

BC may be the last easy game of the year, so it's a good time to give both those guys the PT. Plus Caleb made it easy to put him on the bench with his lackluster showing at Louisville.

If BC permits, I'd also like to see more of Styles and Nickel. Washington will spell Armando. BC isn't tall enough for us to need them in the game at the same time.

Wouldn't mind seeing Pete get some light duty to test his back and shake off the rust. We're going to need him. But I'm happy for Washington to get those minutes if Pete isn't ready yet.
