Mitch Trubisky knows what it is like to return to a meaningful place. In the spring, he went back to college. The quarterback, 29, had one class left to get his degree at the University of North Carolina. "I just wanted to finish it. Ever since I had my son, I wanted to tell him I was a college graduate someday. I took my final exam on his second birthday." (Buffalo News)

College basketball moved one step closer to an expanded NCAA men’s basketball tournament. NCAA officials on Wednesday presented to Division I conference commissioners at least two models of an expanded field, one with an additional four teams and another with an additional eight teams, commissioners told Yahoo Sports. Officials declined to speak publicly. (Yahoo! Sports)

UNC's Smith Center replacement plan moves ahead with $217,000 study

UNC is moving closer to replacing the Smith Center. The university could identify the positives and negatives of sites for a potential new men's and women's basketball arena by the end of the month. North Carolina is paying Kansas City-based Populous Architects more than $217,000 to design an athletic facility study and deliver the results by July 31. (WRAL.com)

Ottawa’s Patrice Rene was a 6-foot-2, 206 pound defensive back who could run a 4.6 second 40-yard dash. Safety size with defensive back speed and quickness. He was until a collision with a UNC teammate his senior year left him with a torn ACL in 2019, costing him one season before COVID burned the next. The NFL didn’t come calling, but the CFL did.
