NCAA could pay more than $2.7B to settle NIL antitrust suit

The NCAA's national office might be footing the bill for a settlement expected to be more than $2.7 billion in the landmark House v. NCAA antitrust lawsuit in hopes of reshaping and stabilizing the college sports industry, according to multiple sources on Thursday.

Sources told ESPN this week that parties have proposed the NCAA's national office -- rather than its individual member schools or conferences -- would pay for the settlement of past damages over a period of 10 years. The NCAA payments would be paid to former college athletes who say they were illegally prevented from making money by selling the rights to their name, image and likeness.

NC lawmakers seek to force UNC, NC State to play football, basketball vs. in-state schools

State lawmakers want to require UNC and NC State to play football and basketball games against other in-state public schools on a regular basis. Under a bill filed by Republican House members, UNC and NC State would be required to play at least one of ECU, App State, and Charlotte every year and play each school home and away every six years. Portal, NIL and UNC Basketball

Do most live for the portal and "the moment" or do you put your priorities more on developing the incoming classes and developing a team over time? Has Carolina basketball taken a back seat to a "live for the moment" mentality? Over time how will potential pro recruits look at UNC as a place to showcase their talents for whatever time they may be here if their positions will be recruited over for upper class men ala dook. I am in no way a fan of individual "all to one NIL $$" because it promotes individuality and destroys the team concept. To me it just seems the purity of college athletics has been f'd by the NCAA but that's what they do best via officiating, scheduling and NCAAT selection. But at the end of the day it seems the individual programs .. and coaches, are the ones that make of it as they will. jmo
