NCAA President Charlie Baker Continues to Push for NIL Legislation With Lawmakers

Posted May 11, 2023
Amid NCAA president Charlie Baker’s latest visit with lawmakers on Capitol Hill, there is movement to produce federal legislation over college athlete compensation before the nation enters another presidential election cycle this fall. Baker, hired to replace Mark Emmert, returned to the Capitol a week ago for meetings with House and Senate members. (Sports Illustrated)

A little galling.....but that is where we are

There is article on another site about Nickel....not gonna link it...but bottom line he is licking his chops at the thought of playing us... what got me is that he's still at Carolina...working with our s and c coaches getting bigger and stronger....all inpreparation to play against us next season. I guess other transfers from other schools...Ingram, Ryan are doing the same thing at their schools as well. I guess all these kids are still enrolled at their respective schools...and can use those facilities. It just strikes me as weird and more than a little maddening that kids like Nickel can use our weight rooms etc as they prepare to beat us next season. But that is what the portal has created.

---Drake Powell 6pts/7rbs/4asst/3blks as TEAM CP3 improve to 5-0 although he had a rough night shooting from deep.

Side note:
---Remember the name Austin Swartz, bigtime shooter from the Concord, NC area.
---Ga Stars lost bad but 2025 target Caleb Wilson is a monster. 16pts/10rbs/5asst/5blks

NIL Stuff

As with any topic, if you do enough Google searches, you can find information on the topic.

This post is about the INFLCR Exchange https://www.inflcr.com/ .

UNC is on this Exchange, along with many other Power 5 schools. If companies want to be part of the Exchange, the school's compliance department must approve the company. Once approved, the company can contact any athlete (all sports) about a NIL deal from that school.

Companies can post their NIL deals on the Exchange (similar to a job post) and athletes can approach them about their offer if they are interested. As in many job offers, there are counteroffers. All athletes (all sports) are automatically placed in the Exchange.

Athletes post their resumes, i.e. sport they play, social media stats. I like the format because there is a uniform template that students and companies must complete. Companies can send an email to an athlete with an offer and private emails that can be exchanged with the athlete. Athletes can also approach a company and tell them they are interested in working out a NIL deal.

All payments are made through the Exchange and tax statements are issued to the athletes. Contracts must be signed.

There are on-line training programs for companies and athletes.

INFLCR is rapidly growing.
