• Armando Bacot set UNC career records for rebounds (1,221) and double-doubles (61). He broke Tyler Hansbrough’s rebound record (1,219) and Billy Cunningham’s double-double record.
• Bacot moved up to eighth place in ACC history with 1,221 rebounds. He passed Georgia Tech’s Malcolm Mackey (1,205), Wake Forest’s Len Chappell (1,213), Clemson’s Dale Davis (1,216) and Hansbrough. Duke’s Mike Gmisnki is seventh with 1,242.
• Bacot is tied with Clemson’s Tree Rollins for seventh in ACC history with 61 double-doubles.
• This was Bacot’s fourth career double-double vs. NC State. He’s had five vs. Virginia Tech, the most against any opponent.
• Bacot has recorded a double-double against 31 different teams.
• Bacot scored 23 points and had a game-high 18 rebounds, tying again the school record for most rebounds vs. NC State. Cunningham had 18 on 1/13/1965 and Bacot had 18 in last season’s game in Raleigh on 2/26/2022.
• It was Bacot’s 20th career game with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds.
• It was also Bacot’s 10th career game with at least 18 rebounds, his 22nd with at least 15 and his 68th with 10 or more.
• Bacot has 50 rebounds in the last three games (16 at Louisville, 16 vs. Boston College and 18 vs. NC State).
• Bacot moved up four spots to 22nd in all-time scoring by a Tar Heel with 1,639 points. He passed Jawad Williams and Justin Jackson (both with 1,626), Eric Montross (1,627) and Kenny Smith (1,636). Wayne Ellington is 21st with 1,694.
• RJ Davis led all scorers with 26 points. UNC is 5-0 this season and 10-0 in three seasons when Davis scores 20 or more.
• Davis was 5 for 8 from the floor, 2 for 4 from three and a career-best 14 for 14 from the free throw line.
• Davis tied the third-most free throws without a miss in a game by a Tar Heel (York Larese was 21 for 21 vs. Duke on 12/19/1959, Phil Ford was 16 for 16 at NC State on 2/24/1976 and Davis is the third to make 14 for 14 joining Cole Anthony vs. Boston College on 2/1/2020 and Tyler Hansbrough vs. NC State on 1/7/2006).
• Davis came into the game leading the ACC in free throw percentage. He is 79 for 88 for 89.8%.
• Davis passed the 1,100-point mark and has 1,107 points. He passed Dante Calabria (1,098) for 71st place in UNC history.
• This was the eighth time this season (most on the team) and 15th time as a Tar Heel Davis led UNC in scoring.
• Caleb Love was 9 for 10 from the line and scored 16 points. He was a game-high plus 17, the third time this season and second time in a UNC win (also Notre Dame) he led the team in plus/minus.
• Carolina set a school record for its highest free throw percentage in a game with at least 30 attempts. The Tar Heels made 36 of 39 for 92.3%. The previous high was 91.9% vs. Syracuse (34 of 37) on 2/26/2019.
• The 36 made free throws are the most by UNC since making 37 vs. Clemson in the 2005 ACC Tournament.
• The Tar Heels committed a season-low seven turnovers (previous was eight vs. Charleston and Notre Dame).
• Carolina’s bench scored a season-low one point (previous was three vs. Gardner-Webb, Portland and Ohio State).
• Carolina was 20 for 54 from the floor, a percentage of .370 that was the lowest in a win this season (previous was .383 vs. Gardner-Webb).
• Carolina is 2-2 this season and 6-6 over the last two seasons when shooting under 40% from the floor.
• The Tar Heels are 10-1 this season and 25-2 over the last two seasons when scoring 80 or more points.
• The Tar Heels had only five assists on 20 baskets. No player had more than one assist.
