Am I the only one that thinks this trend of final 20...15...10...etc is dumb?

No. I have been ranting about it for a month.
No you are not. I don't think any kid is truly considering any more than 5 schools. They just enjoy massaging their own egos and making their cute little graphics with the logos encircling them. Damn. I feel sorry for big time college coaches. .
Amen and Amen! Dean could have coached a few years longer but he was already fed up with dealing with ever larger players' egos, overbearing parents, and AAU coaches who wanted to get involved. It must be a royal pain in the arse to deal with them. Thankfully, the compensation is excellent.
The way I look at that is that there are only 11 predictions, so far.
I haven't crunched any numbers, but my guess is that their predictions are better when they get around 20 predictions.
The other factor I look at is the recent predictions. If there's a flurry of recent predictions headed the same way, that's often a good clue.
In PJ's case the 2 July predictions called it for UK, while the 2 August ones say Texas.
Not too convincing. But not encouraging for us, either.
I wonder if being USA coach means Smart treats PJ any differently. Obviously that connection gives him an inside track. But only if PJ likes the way Smart runs his practices and such. I mean a player could also come away thinking "whew, I never want to be coached by that guy."
