I will believe it when I see it with the past few years as a barometer.
Truthfully though, just looking at our current roster before portal interest comes into play, why wouldn't Wilson think he should start at the 4 from day 1?

Not true. Another sites insider who is well respected said he is close to putting a prediction for UNC due to information from his source. Also mentioned Ian Jacksons recent success being a factor as well.
I think January but that's all I know ... he'd be a great pick up if UNC can land him ... not a AJ type player but still a great get
Here's the question I've raised in the past about Caleb. I'm looking at his stats on MaxPreps. He's shooting 26% from 3pt range his senior season. He shot 31% from 3 as a junior. So my question is, does he fit the stretch 4 role in Hubert's offense? Hubert's most successful stretches have come with Manek lighting it up from 3, and Ingram setting a career high from 3. But when we had Nance or Leaky or Puff or Styles playing the PF spot, and shooting poorly from 3, our offense struggled.
If we beat the odds and land Wilson, his natural fit is at the 4 spot in college. But he doesn't look like a good fit as a stretch 4. Do we completely retool the offense around him? Do we try to force a round peg into a square hole? Do we maybe try playing him at SF and let him overpower wings that guard him?

I know I’m on ignore by him so he’s not going to read this, but damn this dude can find a way to turn a positive into a negative. We might be about to get one of those 5 stars he says we can’t get anymore. SMH.
I have been saying that if I had a choice between Caleb Wilson or getting Zayden High back as a RS Sophomore, I would rather have Zayden. I would be good with both though.
I think Wilson will be good in time, but I don't think he is 1 and done good by any means. There is a lot of immaturity to his game, although I think he improved a great deal this past summer in that aspect.

High damn near set the UNC record for foul rate. He's got a lot of work to do if he even wants to be able to stay on the court.
There's a reason Caleb Wilson is a top rated recruit and a projected lottery pick. He's oozing with talent. I just think the stats show he doesn't currently shoots the 3 well enough to play the stretch 4 role in Hubert's offense. But if we pull off a miracle and actually beat Kentucky for him, there is surely some sort of role where we can make use of his talent. Likely a starting role.
BTW, is Zayden High back enrolled at UNC? His suspension by the honor court was only for fall semester.
Dude is 6'9 with a crazy wing span.... you play him wherever.... long as you play him. His game reminds me of Marvin Williams.
Haven't seen a mock that had Drake as a lottery pick. I did see a mock a few weeks into the season that had him mid first round.. I don't see him in the first around any longer, no sure why. NBA Draft Net has Ian at #12 and has not listed Drake at all in either round.
I kind of see Wilson as a longer version of Theo because he is a swiss army knife guy that is thin but surprisingly athletic. His jump shot has been a work in progress but similar to BOTH Drake and Jack, that jumper is improving at about the same stage as our 5 freshmen.
A thing missing from our front court now, sort of my phrase for the day I guess, is quick twitch, Drake is the only guy we play in the front court with it and he should be on the wing, ooops, JWith does have that quick twitch, as well so allow me to self correct.
EVERY Tar Heel should be praying we get Wilson, I hope the current excitement for UNC has legs but Wilson is really hard to read. Seen multiple times where fans of programs get excited they have Wilson wrapped up only to find out no they don't. Kind of feels like Wilson loves to bait folks to think zig one way and zag the other, is that happening now, is he trying to set up some ending surprise? I am going to still think it is Ky at the end until I hear different, hopefully I will hear different.
Can't move forward with Washington as the starting 5. Need at least 1 portal bug, possibly two. I think High can be a starter at the 4 OR 5, if he is back
If Caleb Wilson plays only one year of College, I absolutely would prefer Zayden High if it were an either/ or situation.
Now if Wilson plays multiple years and we get a more mature version of his game in year two, I could change my mind.
I personally don't think his first year will be better than Drake Powells first year in college. I think he can definitely help us next year, and with the current projected lineup returning he would likely be the starting 4.
I think even if Wilson picks Carolina as his choice, Hubert should go out and try to fill that spot with a Portal stud and make Wilson beat him out. I personally don't think Wilson is good enough to be the 2nd or 3rd best player on a FF team, let alone the best player.
I won't comment on my drug of choice until Zayden High is back in school, then maybe we can partake together?😊😉

Another sites insiders say he is enrolled for spring semester. I guess we will see.
