A lot of great things happen when UNC is able to get a recruit on campus, Roy is often at his very best when it comes to visits.

Interested to see who gets his 5th visit. Probably won't be UNLV seeing that the proximity wouldn't be worth wasting one on. Still think this will be a 4 horse race with Tx/UK/UNC/UNLV.
Doesn't look like much to read into. All visits are before the season starts with equal amount of time spent between all of them. Definitely need to impress on the OV.
It's looking like the "package deal" with Petty may be dead or close to it, as Petty is said to be leaning towards Alabama, so that helps in our favor.
My gut still says Texas or UK, but a lot can change by then, so who knows.

With the possibility of, potential AA, Joel Berry playing another season after this and Felton coming in along with the departure of Meeks and Hicks .. and tons of PT available .. and the UNC system of running and emphasizing inside out play making in a program that gets 99% of its games televised from one of the most amazing basketball facilities and premier conferences in the country I just don't understand why he hasn't committed already. Guess there are a lot of variables as far as who will be here when he comes in.
How about a team to start '17 of Joel Berry, Jalek Felton, Justin Jackson, PJ Washington and Tony Bradley or Mo Bamba ... along with the others already there or committed. Yeah I know .. but I love a good beer buzz after work on Monday.

I got good vibes on PJ Gary. Like I said in another thread, with the amount of PT available and how Roy loves going through bigs, i find it impossible we dont land an elite big man. Washington would be stupid to pass on this opportunity
Unlike some, I see Paul Sr coaching Findlay as a potential positive in that perhaps it will close down the Arizona pipeline. Now, father and son both being in Vegas could bring UNLV into the game, but I can't see it helping KU or uk in any particular way. If we take uk homers like Evan Daniels for what they are, this one may be between Roy and Shaka. And you're right, PJ has an immediate opportunity to shine here and he and Tony would make a helluva tandem.
One thing that may work for us is that, with Jericho Sims' commitment, they now have 2 4 star PF's committed to play next year, along with Jarrett Allen (5 *) and James Banks (4 *). If all those guys stay, he may be looking elsewhere for PT.
Now mikey, how can ya tell us that UNLV is not in it and not offer an explain?
AWESOME point Rose! That front court does look pretty full at this point, I have always seen a 4 man front court as being full. Recruits looking at three 4star guys and a 5 star and none of them have played their 1st NCAA game yet, that turns front court recruits not committed in other directions. Ya know what, looking at what you shared here Rose, I am nearly convinced Texas may be out of the running at this point. I don't think any of the 4 will be gone when PJ plays his frosh season.
Gary, if one of the front runners for PJ is now out, then it tosses an assist to the rest of the contenders, which I do think at least for now Ky is a contender, I think UNLV is as well and could (could don't mean would
jump to the head of the class considering where pops is now.BUT GARY, how about see if you can check the current temp on Carter? Because the tea leaves don't look as good for Trent to duke as they did and I am wondering if that can or will effect carter and duke?

yeah, I agree tre, not saying Rob is wrong at all, 5 stars are expected to be one & done but I just don't think that will be the case with that one. Kinda like Bolton, don't see him one & done either, personally I am not convinced either Bam or SJK are either.
False. UNLV is in this and UK is absolutely In this. It's not a two team race.
I'm far from ready to say TX is out of it by any means... prolly PJ's most direct emotional tie, in fact. However, as I posted some months ago, Shaka appeared even then to be recruiting himself into a weaker position there, and now those offers are indeed coming home to roost. As for uk, the first thing ya hafta do is get past the "noise". Part of their recruiting strategy is a bum's rush blitz via public media (exact opposite of Roy) that pushes the meme that every top recruit is dying to come to uk, and their home recruiting sites and certain homer, um, "journalists" blatantly aid and abet that cause. Do a web search on most any top recruit and you'll likely see a result pop up extolling how well uk stands with said recruit... results normally originating from their propaganda machine. Let's face it, that works for them a lot... but far from always. And yeah, they regularly attract top recruits to their glitzy midnight madness event, but nowhere near all of them end up committing. Big Wendell went there last year but he ain't likely going to school there. PJ's been planning to go to the event this season for a long time. Does it mean anything? Far from a certainty.
My realistic worry here with uk is that PJ did have a long-standing interest in them (not surprising), but uk hurt themselves by going dark on his recruitment at a time that other schools (especially UNC) turned on the heat. They are scrambling now to make PJ a priority again (truth be told, uk is not guaranteed to get ANY of the top Bigs this time... they're in a fight on all fronts), and Roy has positioned himself nicely. It was also apparent that UNC holds a "wow" factor for PJ, and his dad surprising him with the trip here a few weeks back was huge. He also visited State on that excursion but it didn't seem to really register, IYKWIM.
Bottom line is PJ has blown up as a priority recruit for a lotta folks, so I don't underestimate all the potential um, "X-factors" in elite recruiting, and thus I'm not predicting yet. BUT I will say without hesitation that we are very much in this one and may well be in much better shape than many would like to admit.
Bam is, barring a major setback. It's firmly in his head, at least as I understand it.
No harm in having a different opinion.
Allen was underrated as far as I'm concerned in his class. I think the fact that he's such an introvert kept him off the front of everyone's mind. But make no mistake, the kid can play. I think if he stays more than one year it will be more off his personality than it will be his draft projections.
In fact, I believe that was Calipari's final selling point (after the handler rift at State opened things up), i.e., "when was the last time State had a OAD?", so he may as well go to uk and get more exposure.

Not according to our insiders. 3 horse race between UNC, Texas, UK. UNLV is out.
gary, my friend, here we go again, same dance, different tune! LOL Meeks is not back playing for us this season for any other reason other than he was not going to be drafted in the first round and doubtful second round either. You know as well as I do that was NOT the plan going in to last season.
It is not a question of does bam want or believe he will enter the next draft, the fact that he does is why he is at Ky and not UNC, his head has been filled with BS! His entering the next draft is only half the equation, the NBA has to agree they are ready to draft him is the other half.
Here is the problem, Bam is a heck of a high motor defender, he is not a great scorer. He is that 6'9" tuff minded good motor kid I see come back for additional seasons in the college game all the time because they do not score a ton. He is not a Draymon Green ball handler, he is not a face up 4 with extended range out to the trey and he sure is not Anthony Davis, Ochafor, Parker or Townes. IMO, he is and was when we had a shot at him, the kind of player that plays really well in the college game but maybe not so much in the NBA, think Hansbourgh.
I will not argue at all, if the NBA is willing to take him in the first round he will go but he is projected a lot due to hype right now, I don't think the hype fairly meets what he is as a player. I would LOVE to have him on our roster right now but he just is not yet a solid scorer, he is more a garbage scorer and a over the top opps guy for the flush right now. Maybe he develops more as a face up guy and gets some jump shooting range but that has not been the case so far.
Logic doesn't always prevail, Dave. Kid has no interest in building a college career. It ain't whether he should, it's whether he will. Barring injury or something unforeseen, he gone in 17.
I agree that is where his head is, my point is more I do not know that it will play out that way. Where his head is, do you see him taking a second round spot or go undrafted? That Ky team is, as is usually the case this time of the season, over hyped. But IMO, they are over hyped maybe more now than any Kal/Ky team I have seen.
Actually both of our insiders say UNLV is a non factor and they know this from conversations with his father I presume. They are 1000x more plugged in than any poster on this board.
