Rose, that's because they'll have a really good solid update two days late....

247 has UNLV, originally listed at 0%, as the 2nd favorite with no offer and no visit set.

Lol...
I wouldn't be LOL'ng because one of those picks is Jerry Meyer and he doesn't make wild picks it doesn't give me a good feeling. Hope he's way off.

His record is on par with all those other analysts. More importantly, I'm really not concerned with what an analyst picks vs. what the kid picks. And we all know those picks can be changed at literally any time, So I'm sure we'll see a flux of flip flops before he even makes his decision.

So, Lol.

It sure seems to me those few "experts" over there at 24/7, Jerry and his two buds, are about as correct as a coin toss.
Okay, that is not accurate, they may even get to 51%...
They sure have a heck of a time getting information on their site, go over and take a peek, stuff often a year out of date?
Hope they aren't doing their own taxes!

Coin toss is pretty much dead on as to their correctness pcts.

They make predictions then flip-flop with the wind.

Jerry, years ago was GOOD! DERN GOOD. Then he got lazy and quit doing his homework and relying on others.

Just seems like he has a lot on his plate now. Doesn't have time to get to build the relationships that the great scouts (like ours) do.

...which is sadly endemic in modern media --- too easy to rely on what pops across your computer screen --- which also speaks to the uk bias in predictions that I mentioned earlier.

Feels like Duke and UK lead for every top 20 kid until they are ready to make a choice for real.

And there's a reason for that. Hell, ESPN has an article today about OADs who would dare go somewhere besides dook and uk, like it was an affront to common sense. Sheesh.

The post I put on the first page of this thread about the uk propaganda machine tells it like it is, and I wish more would understand that, as opposed to wringing their hands about every glorified-guess "crystal ball" or whatever prediction.

You talking about the Dookie V "article"? Just a Cal/Kay sloberfest as usual. The guy should be put out to pasture.

I saw that headline and wouldn't give them the benefit of the click. Ridiculous.

yeah gary but those 2 programs cultivate that relationship where many programs do not. Look at duke for example, all the talking heads that get face time at ESPN that have duke back grounds, K getting his huge soap box by leveraging the team USA angle, all the fawning over him as the elder statesman of the college coaching ranks, all time wins totals, ect. Duke cultivates the media coverage, K baths in it while always looking for yet another way to get duke in to the next news cycle.

Kalipapri will make a statement on anything, no matter how trivial, and because he is such a fire brand and that Ky fan base so off the chain that Kal realizes the importance of carrying the sports news cycle keeps his name and that Ky program in the minds of those he is looking to recruit.

We (UNC) have the opposite experience, the news cycles we have carried for to long now seem dominated by negatives and those negatives have been used very effectively against us. Even this past title game, the narrative was the UNC heart break, Jordan tears? WE don't do a great job on the PR front, we seem to always be on the defensive in the media where duke & Ky are always on the offense. Stuff like that creates perspective and the perspective that has been crafted about us is negative and we need to turn that around.

Here's hoping that cycle continues to change as we head to fall. UNC will be back in the positive news cycles more often in the comings months...;)

It certainly does feel like if you're not dook or Kentucky you may as well kiss the OAD's goodbye, with Kansas or Michigan State or Arizona getting the occasional top 10er.

Unfortunately this trend will continue for awhile, but it's not forever. Sooner or later, it'll even out a lot more like before.

I think what is going to change that trend is at some point the NBA will allow a path for a limited number of kids to enter the draft straight out of high school, either that or they begin to pay the NBADL players enough that those top 10 kids that look to be one & done now days will take that path. The 2 and done and the baseball deal of 3 at least are proposals that grant direct from high school to the NBA or college for a min # years.

Now you may tell me that Ky & duke will just get the best of the rest but a few holes in that. First, you are dealing with a total of about 10 in each class that want to go HS to the NBA but there is a HUGE different in talent between the 10 best talents and the next 10 best. There are usually in most classes about 4 guys guys that are real game changers day 1 as freshmen. Ky and duke won nattys with freshman dominated teams but the truth is they each had ONE super star game changer in Anthony Davis and Ochafor. They do not even sniff the natty game or the final 4 without those 2 fellas. Remove those 2 game changers and neither would be there if even 2 guys were allowed each year to enter the draft straight from HS and both those natty teams would be no more than sweet 16, if that.
