No, but I'll be pulling for them.Anyone else think Klumpson will pull off the upset of Puke today?

It'll be close but Duke will win.I'm probably jinxing them, but I have a feeling this one will be closer than people think. Duke has shown a pattern of playing to the level of their competition, and being away from home won't help those matters.
That sounds about right. It'll be close but Duke will win.
It will definitely be one team having everything to play for and the other team having very little to play for. That sounds about right.
Hopefully a Tiger player will cold-cock gayson allen on the way out.
FIFYthey're (almost assuredly) in the NIT. If they lose, they're out.
You'd think so, but Lunardi said last night that if Clemson upsets Duke, they're in.FIFY
Weird that he would say that. His bracket yesterday has them as a next four out. I don't think a win against duke would make them jump five teams. Given their 6-12 conference record and 1-8 record against top 25 teams, I'd be more than willing to bet they don't make it.You'd think so, but Lunardi said last night that if Clemson upsets Duke, they're in.
Pretty much all of this post is a fail.Lunardi pisses me off. I understand the ratings draw that he brings to ESPN, but the entire concept of salivating over mediocre bubble teams leaves too much to be desired for my taste. I get it -- the whole idea of the "little guy" getting a chance to swim in the deep end is enticing for casual fans hoping for a miracle upset, but the fact remains that these teams...SUCK. There is a reason they are on the bubble. Don't celebrate that. And those upsets...99% of the time, the team upset might have a more household name than IUPUI, but they are extremely flawed, and the Selection Committee knows this -- they put household names in that #5 slot on purpose...they KNOW there is a decent chance of them falling flat on their faces.
The entire thing is a sham...just tell me when Carolina plays.
F it...I guess I'll be glued to the screen for every game, hoping beyond hope for Duke to be that highly seeded team to fall. But it's still a ratings scam, entertaining or not.

Just telling you what the man said. Neutral and road wins count more than home wins, so Clemson notching a neutral court win against a Top 15 team would be enough to jump them from "next four out" to "last four in" I reckon.Weird that he would say that. I'm not saying I don't believe you. Just seems weird that he would make that change. I just can't imagine someone 6-12 in the conference getting an invite. It's pretty rare for anyone below .500 in any conference to get an invite. Hopefully we will find out if he's right.Just telling you what the man said. Yeah I haven't understood the Clemson love at all this season, with respect to them still being a "last four in" despite losing game after game down the stretch.I'm not saying I don't believe you. Maybe it's an attempt to appeal to the huge, rabid football fan base. Clemson fans couldn't care less about basketball.Yeah I haven't understood the Clemson love at all this season, with respect to them still being a "last four in" despite losing game after game down the stretch.
As I said before, I don't feel good about playing Miami. It wouldn't shock me at all if they jumped out early on us tomorrow.Canes up 8 at the half. Syracuse might have to pull another crazy comeback to stay alive and play us tomorrow.
WF finished at 9-9 in the conference, so I think you can go ahead and call them good. I think there is a good chance they make the tournament.Obviously, I realize these are hypothetical situations, but both of these teams were close to being good this year, they were basically in every game they played.
I'm not sure how to feel about tomorrow's game. Obviously it would be great to bring home the trophy, but I think we will get a one seed regardless. Is bringing home the trophy and getting the bragging rights more important than the extra rest? I'm not sure.As I said before, I don't feel good about playing Miami. ...and if they do jump ahead early on us tomorrow, it wouldn't shock me at all if Ol' Roy decides to rotate a bit and acquiesce. Gain some extra rest for the Big Dance.
I think they make the tournament, I guess when I said "good" I meant better than .500 and 10th place. If they could have closed out some of those games (especially Duke at home), they had an outside chance at a top 5 finish. If they can do that next year and Collins returns, I think they could finish among the top 5-6WF finished at 9-9 in the conference, so I think you can go ahead and call them good. That's because they aren't real fans. Not a peep about it on Radar so I started a thread.
I enjoy it, but I really only watch the Carolina games. I'll pay attention to some of the others, but I'm not just thrilled to watch the play in gamesHas the ACCT really lost that much of its luster...? I still love it. Not a peep about it on Radar so I started a thread.
I would agree with that most years, but the ACC is so good this year .500 looks better than normal to me.I think they make the tournament, I guess when I said "good" I meant better than .500 and 10th place. I respectfully disagree. I think it's really cool when teams go on a run. Of course now the format basically makes it impossible for anyone lower than a 9 seed to reach the finals, but I still like the "anything can happen" nature of it... especially as CBB gets more and more "parity" (read: no longer any truly elite teams) each year.I enjoy it, but I really only watch the Carolina games. I would probably lean that way as well, but I feel like winning the regular season is more important and a better accomplishment simply because you have to be good over the course of 18 games instead of four days.To me, it is for two reasons:
1. It's an ACCT title and you should never pass up the opportunity to get one. Especially since K got Duke darn near caught up to us when they seemingly won all of them in the 00s.
2. Like last year's team, I think this team's psyche requires constant reminders of what it feels like to win. I think the ACCT title last year propelled us to our Final Four run. Unlike teams of the past who were just dominant, period (2009 especially), I don't think this group would do well in the NCAAT after an early exit in the ACCT.
I'm not sure if that makes sense, but it's something I've noticed with this team's psyche. They need the occasional loss to shake them awake and they also need the occasional high stakes win to build confidence.
I agree that winning the regular season is a much better accomplishment, holistically, and I have no clue in the world why winning the regular season title doesn't result in an automatic bid, but winning a conference tournament does.I would probably lean that way as well, but I feel like winning the regular season is more important and a better accomplishment simply because you have to be good over the course of 18 games instead of four days.
Yeah, I understand that, I just don't have the same excitement to watch the play in games as I do once the top 4 join. With that said, I like upsets, as long as they aren't happening to us, so I'm fine with a double digit seed making it to Thursday, or possibly further, but I'm not really gonna watch those early games with the same excitement as the final 3 days.I respectfully disagree. But since people keep track of it the way they do, the ACCT is more important.
Wrong IN THIS CASE (generally I agree everything is about money) because the ACCT getting an auto bid dates back to before CBB was even televised. If the auto bid was given to the regular season - the ACCT would be considered more pointless than it already is, and thus get less viewership. As always, the rationale ties back to money.
