Anyone hear the rumor...

Ummm, I want him back now. Caleb needed a reality check. I hope UNC gets him back!

Not only has this ship sailed, it is well out of the harbor. Can we please just give this thought a rest, Caleb's time as a Tar Heel is up. Best of luck to him wherever he lands, but it won't be back at the HIll.

We were better the day he left. Why bring in more bodies to find minutes for and potentially create the next round of Portal Transfers.
Exactly.

Which reminds me of a question I asked before but don't think was answered: Can guys who entered the portal - like Ryan or Wojcik - change their mind and go back to the portal?

If I had to guess, I'd guess yes, because they entered the portal before the deadline. But I don't really know.

So . . . if, for example, we brought Caleb back or got another top wing through the portal or reclassification, could we lose people we now have?

If we recruit over Seth, it's too late for him to transfer without sitting out a year. But if we recruit over Ryan, Wojcik, Withers or Ingram, can they just reenter the portal?

the larger point is Davis NEEDS to be a BETTER COACH-Love returning might keep Davis from improving & implementing fresh approach

I am disappointed Caleb won't be at Michigan. This result is a bad look for Caleb, UNC, and Michigan.

I was proud of Caleb for choosing Michigan-I thought it was a very mature decision.

He was going to a program with poor NIL money, so he was theoretically going for the right reasons.

They have a stern coach, so maybe he realized he needed a guy that would force him to reel in his play.

They have an established PG, so he wasnt just going to dominate the ball.

And its a great academic school.

Hope he finds a good fit somewhere

Our shooting guard position is suspect in my opinion. We have a few more guys to rebound Caleb's misses. I know it is not going to happen, but I don't think we need him, but we definitely need a guy like him. So why not make amends.

We have superior shooters and an exact replica physically in wilcher (whos shot looks better from what I have seen). Love is gone and destined for a rec league or europe if he cant get signed with a team.

I only want Caleb back because I think it would be funny.

Speaking strictly from a shooters standpoint, Cormac Ryan is a massive upgrade from Caleb Love at the 2. He’ll probably turn it over a bunch less & make much better decisions with the ball also.

I found nothing about last season funny and I attribute a lot of that to Caleb.
There were a lot of funny moments from last year once you realized we werent any good.

- Leaky getting blocked by the rim (I think it was Notre Dame?)
- Leaky passing up a wide open layup against Notre Dame when the nearest defender was 2 time zones away.
- Caleb basically trying a free throw line dunk over Lively and Filopowski at Duke. Predictability it was blocked.
- Towards the end of the season, I found Caleb’s shit talking after making his 4th FG on his 13th attempt somewhat funny. Like a level of tone-deaf that’s funny.

Yeah… nah…. None were funny at all in my eyes.

For me, funny is Coach K walking off the court after losing his final home game… and then again after losing his final game ever.

Funny is the look on the spectators faces in the background when Danny Green t-bagged Paulus.

Funny is the crying painted faces after Psycho T and company ruined JJ Red-dicks senior night.

Funny is the video of Kensucky fans in the bar as they went from elation to dejection in a matter of seconds in ‘17.

I could go on, but maybe we just have different perspectives on what is funny.

Those were funny indeed. And much more satisfactory. But Leaky getting blocked by the rim will always be funny to me. Although a little less now knowing he’s 6’6” and not 6’9”.

Sheesh, you act like that is a once in a lifetime play, bigger stars then Leaky have done similar on individual plays. To fixate on that is weird, especially for a fan of the team that the "blooper" happened to. Hell, Hall of Famers have got "caught on the rim" and even fell on their ass after. Shaq made a whole skit about it "Shaqting a Fool", it happens. Real weird fixation on that one, but whatever makes you happy as a fan of your team I guess.

I'm not acting like anything and I'm not fixating on it. I just thought it was a funny play.

Of course mistakes happen and that's ok. I just thought it was a funny play. It's really not that big of a deal, lol.

Awful long time for one meh play to still come up from you so often. But we all got to find what makes us happy I guess. Those moments stick, and seem to come up for people. Not trying to yuck your yum, seems that's the type moments you like to latch on to for your team. Do you.

So Michigan would not accept many of Caleb's credits? Interesting, also interesting to me is Gonzaga and Arizona making heavy pushes to get him now. Texas, Indiana, and Missouri still wooing him, but those two jumping in hard certainly caught my attention. I'm just hoping he doesn't choose Indiana.

Anyone else heard what I have heard - that Caleb didn't have enough credits to be eligible to play at UNC next season even if he had wanted to stay/come back? (Could explain why Michigan wouldn't accept him.)

Needless to say, the Duke board is having fun mocking Caleb and UNC on the grades/classes thing.

Didn't Caleb have some of his best games beating Duke?

It would be interesting to see how he would perform for Few.

He needs a coach who can get the most out of him. I suggest he transfer to Monmouth and learn from King Rice.

Sure, it's not a marquee name, but if Rice can develop Caleb to his full potential, it could be great for both of them.

Another school where he might get the coaching he desperately needs could be Davidson.

What other coaches might put him on a better trajectory? Ted Lasso? No way Roy Kent lets Caleb under-perform.

OTOH, how much NIL could he get playing for a small school? Does he want cash now or to develop into a player with a good career ahead of him?

Sorry but you heard this from who, from where? Asking this as delicately as I can, are you sure you didn't or maybe whom you "heard" this from were not simply taking notice of what happened at Michigan and assuming it would have as well have been a problem for him at UNC had he not left? I have to ask this because it insinuates that Caleb left UNC exclusively because of grades or simply not taking the required number of credits that would keep him on path to graduate. Such a thing would indicate a much larger problem concerning how UNC student advisors are supposed to report such issues to the basketball staff, to prevent the type of fall out we saw with McCants. So it isn't just a small allegation that should not be tossed around hap hazardly.

Duke fans laughing, like I care, like any of us should care that the program that has had to BUY their talent for for well over the last decade to the extent they have made BOTH Kentucky and Bill Self's Kansas programs jealous? We supposed to care one bit what they think, cause I don't. I don't think NASA will be looking to hire Bagley for his academic qualities but we do all thank Kyri for educating us that the EARTH is FLAT! LOLOLOL

I in no way said or meant to imply that it was true. I simply asked if anyone else had heard it. My source is usually reliable, but we can all make mistakes.

I thought I read Michigan would not accept the credits. Not that he did not have them.

Monmouth is a serious joke right ? Davidson as well. Indiana is worried about Gonzaga, Arizona and Texas. They think they have the much better situation and NIL offer then Missouri.

Do not believe Missouri will be a player with Love, they already have a crowded backcourt, and unless someone's decide to depart they are not and will not be interested. Realize that since he is from MO., it would not bold well with a lot of the alumni's but it's more about the team.

Missouri has been heavy on him even before he chose Michigan. They have went hard after him.

Sounds like he doesn't think things through very well .. doubt he even thought he'd be playing college ball next yr. so he might have trashed academics .. jmo

Agree, I thought he would have chosen a school by now. Caleb may need to just try to get into the development league or maybe Australia.

Coach Robinson was able to get Caleb to Arizona. Seems like a good place for him, they should be loaded. I will root for him there as long as they don't matchup with UNC.

Will be watching his progress this upcoming season, and to view how he is being used at AZ., that could be different than what he was doing at Carolina. One thing which I do expect to happen is that he will not be playing the amount of minutes there, and neither will he be the sole focus of shooting the ball.

I don't think he will be the sole focus, but I do believe he will get BIG minutes. 30 per.

Jaden Bradley and Caleb could be a very interesting combination.
FINALLY Caleb has made what I think is a great decision, he is going to get great coaching and he already has a solid relationship with Steve. He gets to play with a for real PG and I really think Lloyd is a strong up and coming head coach that just gets it. He has a strong feel, how could you not coaching for Mark Few, for understanding his players strengths and weaknesses. Have to realize, ther Zags may be considered a great team now, a team that big time talents will now strongly consider but that has only been the case in the last few years. What got them to where they are now was coaching up guys that were considered lesser talents than what most power programs had, Few seems to milk the talent he does have to draw out the best in their game, Lloyd seems to do the same thing but the Arizona draw for talent is easier than what Few faced early on at zaga. So yeah, I think Caleb has finally struck a golden decision and I wish him nothing but the best unless they play us of course! LOL
