Some responses I got when asking folks involved in AAU about Platek:
"Great court awareness"
"His shoulders are already square by the time the ball gets to him"
"Deceptively athletic"
"He sees plays before they happen" (OK, that last one was mine :D).

Watch the back to back inbounds plays starting at the 1:16 mark and you will see exactly what they mean. Seems to have a high basketball IQ. I really want this kid.

Nice highlights! I hope we get to see him on that high screen action in baby blue!
Honestly, I believe that Andrew's decision will come down to a dynamic of how he sees himself vis a vis a program's talent level. While Carolina may be a dream school, and while I believe he could be a major part of our rotation, he also will probably consider that he could be a big dog more immediately at Davidson or Butler (obviously), or Stanford (or even Indiana for that matter) than at UNC.

It was mentioned in another thread that he had a good visit to Stanford (as I thought he would) with Jarrod & co.... and a free ride to Stanford is of course nothing to sneeze at. Ultimately I get the feeling that his decision might come down to how highly he regards himself as a player, i.e. does he wanna go for the gusto at a basketball Blue Blood?

It would hard for him to go wrong with his choice, but I sure as hell hope it's Chapel Hill.

I agree Gary. He could see himself having to compete with Kenny, BRob, and possibly 7th and Jalek. That's a lot of talent ahead of him. He certainly wouldn't have PT guaranteed to him, unlike some of the other schools.

Just read this on zagsblog. Sorry if it was already posted. He also said that he was waiting to commit after the peach jam. Well???????? Its over.
UNC was up first on the 13th. We arrived around 10:30 and were met by Coach C.B. McGrath outside the Dean Dome. The first thing that struck me was how big the campus was. After we met with CoachRoy Williams the first time, Coach McGrath took us around in a golf cart and I saw what the whole campus had to offer. I've been there before when I was younger but never to this extent. After the tour I met with Jonas Sahratian, their strength coach and got an in-depth look into their basketball facilities. Everything about their basketball facilities was top notch, you could tell it was the biggest sport on campus. After meeting all of the coaches and talking to Coach Williams again, I got to play with their guys later that night. It was incredible, I was playing against Raymond Felton, Reggie Bullock, Tyler Zeller, and Kendall Marshall while playing with Kennedy Meeks, Nate Britt, Justin Jackson, and Joel Berry. It was a great way to cap off an amazing visit. I was very impressed with the coaching staff as well as the facilities campus they have there. North Carolina made a lasting impression on my family and me.
