AP Preseason All-America Team

You've spilled a lot of digital ink in this thread. Surely you can spare a bit more? I'd appreciate a few specific examples. They'd help me improve as a poster. Otherwise I'll continue in my stupid shit ways.
That horse has already left the barn, bubba.

Judging from this thread and some others, I'm convinced, pln2013, that you argue for the sake of argument which is rather annoying. So then I'll just agree to disagree with your opinion on this matter.

I understand why it might come off that way. But aside from responses to insults (which I like to have fun with), every single post I make is in good faith. I never take a stance just because it's contrarian.

Perhaps I'm beyond help. But perhaps there are children reading this thread who want to avoid posting stupid shit. Can you point out my contradictions for them - for the kids?

First of all these ppl are predicting who will have all american years this season. Its not an award for last year’s play although obviously its a factor when predicting how good someone will be this season. So to play the “disrespect” card isnt fair.

Theres several players not on it u could make a strong case for saying they should be there instead of porter. Jb is one, As well as allen.

But only the most deluded fan would claim jb belongs there over the other 4. Hes not playing for one thing and theres no reason for these voters to think unc will be a big factor come tourney time or that jb will put up the numbers these guys prob will.

Reasonable people can agree/disagree on the team. Noone deserves to have their opinions called “stupid shit” and themselves to be called a troll for it either. Rest assured The irony of the latter isnt lost on most of us.

The FF is a two-game stretch, and the MOP is only going to come from the winning team. That's a terrible metric for determining the best players.

Kennedy should have won MOP anyway. We won the championship because of the defense Jackson and Pinson played on the wing and Meeks played inside, not because Berry carried us. We hid Berry on defense because of his ankles, and our offense was generally pretty terrible - and Berry was no exception.

You can absolutely make the argument that Berry should be first-team AA. He's an outstanding player. But FF MOP is not that argument, at least not by itself.

I also believe that Kennedy Meeks should have won the MOP............but, that's something that I've said all along

First, I've following Carolina basketball since Phil Ford was a freshman. And like all fans that follow the program I would like to see all accolades come to players that is deserving of them. Unfortunately, they are based on stats and one man's (or group) opinion. And you know what they say about opinions: "they stink like a$$holes and everybody's got one". With that said, I agree with everything pin2013 has stated. I don't post often because you get all kinds of negative feedback like one man's opinion is gospel (stinking a$$holes). Gary stated that pin comments was the "biggest crock of irrelevant nonsense". I ask, what is so irrelevant about facts. pin didn't state an opinion, he stated statistical facts. The AP based their AA team on previous stats and projected stats. And besides, I think that Joel would love to be known as a post season AA as oppose to a preseason AA. A player can play himself off an AA team just as fast as on to one. The only person that controls that is the player themselves. If you play like you are a top 10, top 15 player you probably make the AA team. If you "s@#t the bed" you probably won't and it wouldn't matter what you preseason status was. It's all about what have you done for me lately, not what did you do last year??

Not fair. You're using common sense, logic and reason.

For the record, preseason stuff rarely means anything. I looked up the preseason predictions on ESPN last year for who would make the Final Four, and only 3 of nearly 30 analysts had UNC in the Final Four and none had us winning it all. Zero correctly chose Frank Mason as the Player of the Year. Justin Jackson got zero votes among the ACC media for preseason Player of the Year and wasn't preseason All ACC First team. So it's fine, let Joel go out there and do what he needs to do and the rest will follow.

Gary, state your case but please leave the personal attacks out. Most of us Tar Heels know what we have in Berry, leaving him off is like throwing gas on a fire. I love it!

Berry is an outstanding player, a truly outstanding college player for sure. He has been incredibly important for UNC. Fans sometimes have a tendency to overvalue their guys out of loyalty and also because they watch their guys more. Berry isn't being undervalued by a group saying he is the sixth best player in the country though. I didn't look at the votes, because I don't really care, but the difference between 3-7 or so is probably pretty close in people's mind. Also, this is not a MVP type team. It is simply who they feel is the best player. It is for guys like Ben Simmons a few years ago, dudes that were great players but not always guys that raised their college team to different levels or anything. Regardless, Berry is great. I think he deserves a spot in the top five. I think it is reasonable to make a case for other guys as well though. Of course, I'm not a....

A do like when someone yells about knowing more about basketball or any other subject than other people though. It immediately kind of displays the massive insecurities that make them lose their crap the second someone disagrees with them. It's so endearing.

I don’t put a lot of stock in preseason rankings of any kind, team or individual. I take them all with a grain of salt. I love it when the so-called experts are proven wrong.

It only serves as motivation for those who feel slighted.
