I feel good about our chances.

Why? No ACC refs to give us the hose job in the NCAA.
I don't agree with this statement. Let us not forget the horrible way the National Championship game was called last year. You know it was bad when even Dook fans can see it. The NCAA does not want UNC to win the championship. If we win it we will have to do it with 5 against 8.

I blame Roy for a lot of the officiating issues. When was the last time he got a T? When was the last time he really blew out an official?? He never yells at anybody but the players. I would have followed the officials off the court screaming in their faces and spraying them with spittle and calling them every name in the book. Does he even complain to the ACC SOO? Shit , Roy can afford any fine. Some times you just have to stand up for your players.

The ACC and John Swofford are pathetic. The first game I thought was well officiated. UNC lost because it simply could not make free throws. The second game was a back and forth battle. The FT attempt variance was horrible. UNC was able to hold on despite this. The ACCT game was a joke. Berry was targeted for fouls. People who say officials don't determine games are ignorant. That game Friday was 90% determined by refs. If fouls were called consistently on both ends, UNC runs away with it. They were blowing Duke out until Berry had to leave the game with several minutes left in the 1st half. Its pathetic that the refs and Swofford are not held accountable for that crap. I would say it was incompetence but you cannot make or not make those calls without some kind of intent. And duke complained about every foul they were called for. One of Dook's assistants cussed at an official at half and no T? Really.

100% agreed.

I get what you are saying. He did get t'd up during the UK game due to a horrible call. K gets away with murder and never gets T'd up. I like that Roy coaches majority of the game instead of complaining unlike K who spends hardly any time actually coaching. The rules should be changed. - interactions between coaches and refs should be limited.
- obvious flops should be a delay of game technical.

Roy needs to make his stand in conference games and the "flopping" is worse than it ever was and apparently moving screens are now legal. I think if Roy would take an official(s) apart just once or twice , then we would see a change. Dean could really take an official apart and you wouldn't even know it ; example the NCAA game against KU when he was ejected , he probably calmly told the official "Hey I enjoyed watching your mom "F" that donkey at the sex show last night".

Well, our guys are told, and are well aware of what to expect in a dook game. Unfortunately it's hard to prepare for an ambush like JB's first foul. First damned defensive possession, Jefferson picks off JB with one of his illegal screens and JB gets f***ing called for "holding". Holding whom?

Maddeningly, that particular illegal "hand-off" screen was supposed to be a 2016-17 Point of Emphasis for officials. On hand-offs the screener's body is supposed to be still, and not ass-bumping or turning into the defender --- and sure as hell (as in this case) not stepping into the defender's path while perpetrating the hand-off.

Make no mistake: This is a blatantly, patently illegal screen... and not a hard one to see for that trail zebra. In fact, it's damned near impossible not to see (as the "WTF?" looks on JB's and Kennedy's faces would indicate).

K called that play on the opening possession becuase he knows Jackson's got nothing for Berry head-up. Hell, he got half his points in the last game off of Jefferson's screen-shenanigans (which is bad enough) but that gawdawful foul call put JB in the hole for the rest of the game.

...and unfortunately that was only the beginning.

Mehhh i have to disagree. Dook guy might have leaned but his feet werent moving and berry plowed him. Thats a foul on berry or any player every time imo. Shouldnt someone (meeks?) have called the pick?

There's nothing to "disagree" about. He takes a step with his right foot into the hand-off, and thus into Joel's normal path, which is strictly forbidden under the rules. The Point of Emphasis was put in to specifically put a stop to what he did there. He did way more than "lean", and BTW, even had he just leaned, that is still illegal on a screen or hand-off, but of course Jefferson does that regularly, like when he freed up Allen for his first 3 later.

I don't want him to do it now, as NCAAT games are too important, but if next season Roy flipped a nutty on an official and got shown the door for it, he would go up a few notches in my book. Need that fire.

I disagree that a step was taken during the handoff. A step was taken after berry collided with him. No biggie though. I will allow u to be wrong.

Vid don't lie. The step preceeds the hand-off. Hell, he steps right into JB's path. C'mon bro... I already went to the trouble of making the GIF... I ain't gonna freeze-frame it for ya, too

Hopefully the handoff screens will get called in the tourney. I also hope that overall the refs let the kids play. I'd rather lose a few calls per game on contact than be in a game where the whistle blows 50 times for a foul.

The way that Berry crashed into the screen just about guaranteed the call was going against him , that and they just don't call many moving screens.

I also think a loose whistle helps a team like us who gets up and down. candidly, the tight whistle is what has helped Dook beat us twice, and be really good lately. Those jokers have lived at the free throw line, flopping and taking dives all over the damn place. If they get officials that let both sides play, they will be in trouble any night they hit less than 10 threes.
