I have to ask what you're basing this on. De-Loused in the Comatorium is a really good album in my opinion, but it's definitely an acquired taste. Son et lumière / Inertiatic ESP is a great opening and was what initially drew me into checking them out. I've looked but haven't been able to find the original video that was released when the album came out circa 2003-2004 (there are several other version of it, though). It was a mashup of live concert footage and video from in the studio, which included a snippet of Flea (from RHCP) playing bass. He's credited for a few songs from the album in the liner notes.
I'm mostly a classic rock guy, but I'm open to new stuff (well, almost anything...). So based on a suggestion from my nephew, I tried listening to a couple of Mars Volta albums (don't recall which ones). Honestly I gave it a fair shot, as he also suggested other groups that I ended up liking (Modest Mouse, Wilco, Interpol to name a few). But for lack of a better word, I found their music to sound "frantic", and I swear it nearly sends me into a seizure. It's just not a taste I could ever acquire.

I don't like Metallica enough to want it lol. I jam to their old stuff when the mood is right or when I'm working out, but I'm really into country and "new"grass right now. Cash me when I'm back in a heavier music phase.

I see that country music has already started to screw up your judgment. Full disclosure, my love for Staind's music (mostly due to the lyrics) has caused me to listen to and buy the new Aaron Lewis CD. So technically I have been listening to a lot of country lately. In my defense it's actual country music and not that pop shit they play today.
FWIW - Aaron Lewis / Staind is awesome. Huge fan. He's up there with Sully Erna / Godsmack, for me.
