If he were smart he would come to UNC and be a pain in K rat's ass for a couple of years. I believe if you move from one ACC school to another they penalize you even more than a regular transfer.
Could mean he knows of another addition to the team next year that we don't. Also could mean he just can't put up with the bull from K any longer. Rumor has it that he has been quite lazy on the practice court which I wonder is real or an excuse by the faithful. Could be another in the line of transfers that distinguishes himself elsewhere.
As I recall, Derryck Thornton most likely transferred because Duke was bringing in Bolden. So if this is true they just lost 2 very good players because of perceived mistreatment or misuse.

Have to be honest guys this is very depressing as a Duke fan to see what is happening this spring . Make you wonder if we have sold are souls with these prima donna oads! I am very envious of your program right now. I cannot mean this 100% but good luck tomorrow night ! lol

Bolden had nothing to do with Thornton. K and Capel made promises to Thornton to be their starting PG if would reclassify.
Hard to understand why so many 5 star players are leaving Durham. Could it be lack of PT or just being lied to? Probably a little of both...

They already burned the poor kid at the stake. I had heard so little about him throughout the year that the fans ripping on him about being lazy and entitled was actually surprising. Quick to throw him under the bus, although some of the more reasonable guys spoke up at least. He's just a kid.
Saw that too. I think a lot of these OAD kids get a bad rap. Many on our side rip them as well.

No he transferred because K brought in another point guard in Frank Jackson. And right before Jackson committed, he said he was very high on d00k because K promised him that he'll take over the team at point from the start. I believe Thornton sensed that and transferred. Which is nuts because, I don't know if anyone remembers but Derryck Thornton mentioned how K said he wanted Thornton so badly that K pushed for him to reclassify and graduate high school early so he can take over d00k at PG.

This isn't true. Thornton was told he would be PG in a pick and roll offense. Jefferson gets hurt, Plumlee can't pick and roll, offensive plans change because of that and his dad and uncle said they were lied to. Thornton and Jackson were being recruited to play together, Thornton reclassified so Ingram would come to Duke or they would have been part of the same class.
Ratty's reason for asking Thornton to reclassify was Ingram wouldn't come if he didn't see a dedicated PG to get him the ball. Ratty's sales pitch was that he really needed a good PG for his pick/roll offense. The pick/roll offense did not happen and a combo that was rated higher than him was recruited. Thornton and family saw the writing on the wall and made a wise choice. ratty wasn't completely honest with him and everyone knows Jackson's future in the pros has to be at point! Everyone saw what happened to the last player who re-classified also. If this is the case, I wonder who you throw under the bus?
