It’s safe to say, he’s received some pretty warranted criticism and unwarranted comments.
There’s nothing constructive about telling a kid he should kill himself. Period. But there’s also nothing constructive about telling him he’s sh*t, he sucks, he should leave, we’re better off without him, etc.
He’s done more for this program’s storied history than anyone on this board and anyone lurking in his comments.
I applaud his effort and wish him the best in his future endeavors if he were to move on. But the szn is over. We can b*tch and moan about his play all day and nite for the entire offseason but it doesn’t change the fact that he simply underperformed. Just like the rest of the team. Give it a rest, let him live, and move on.
Yet again I could not agree more, would really like to see you post more! KUDOS!That's what I'm saying. Caleb has done more for the program then most of the folks sitting behind a computer screen bashing him. Most of you guys have never played high level competitive sports, or you would realize Caleb is far from selfish. Towards the end of the season he made concerted efforts to get assists when his shot wasn't falling. Nobody on the team shot particularly well, but Caleb gets blamed because the ball was always given to him at the end of the shot clock. He's still my favorite player on the team, despite struggling this year. Without his 17 pts a game there would've been even more losses. If Hubert had a real offensive scheme and two other starters that could score regularly, instead of Nance and Leaky the numbers would've been much better. You don't have to take my word for it. On one of the call in shows the Duke players said they knew every set play that Hubert called. No creativity at all, playing to slow, and no rest for the starters.
That shot is his Carolina legacy.
Excellent points. Well said.Love’s shot against Duke to end K’a career should always leave him in good graces with UNC fans. That’s as epic as epic can be in the rivalry.
I think a few things (fair or unfair) led to the perception of many.
1) He always looks unhappy. Hen he’s on the bench, in the game, etc. I don’t think it’s always the case, he can’t help that.
2) He came in with high expectations (potential 1 and done) and never lived up to that except in small windows.
3) He happened to play in the transition of two styles (Roy and Hubert)
4) The second half meltdown against Kansas where he kept chucking bad shots.
5) His basketball IQ doesn’t match his talent
6) He is sloppy with the ball and forces things for himself instead of using his skills to get others involved.
7) He shoots way too much
8) He was one of the best players on a historically underachieving team.
There are more, but overall I think Love did earn his place in UNC history. I hate it’s ending how it is and even yet so many fans (myself included) were just ready for his time here to be done. I think he shouldered the blame more than he should, but he’s an easy target.
He’s not a typical rah rah teammate, by that doesn’t mean he wasn’t a good teammate. Only the guys can answer that.
I wish him well and hope he achieves his dreams.
