Caleb Wilson Coming to North Carolina This Weekend

While it may appear that UNC doesn't have adequate NIL funding to attract multiple 5-star recruits right now, I wouldn't count them out just yet. The NIL scene is changing fast, and UNC's been working on stepping up their game with CAROLINA NIL.

Plus, don't forget about the potential impact of big-name alumni like Michael Jordan. If someone like MJ decided to make a hefty donation to UNC's NIL collective, it could be a total game-changer overnight. Even a fraction of what he's given to other causes could put UNC's NIL fund on par with or ahead of many competitors.

So yeah, UNC might face some challenges now, but things can shift real quick in the NIL world. One big donor or smart move could turn everything around. As Yogi Berra famously said, “It ain't over until it's over.”

Another factor to consider is "donor fatigue," which is becoming an increasingly important concern in college sports NIL funding. In the case of UNC, where football receives more NIL donations despite basketball's greater success, I wouldn’t be shocked to hear that some UNC football-specific donors might shift some or all of their donations to the basketball program.

Take all the football NIL and give it to basketball. Football doesn't need to pay players to give up 70 points to JMU, or blow 20 point leads to dook.

Spend the money on elite basketball prospects. There are guys in the NBA making $60 million a year on max contracts. If we can get some elite players back in the NBA, they'll make huge amounts of money and they can start donating back to NIL.

Spill it Gary! 😆
Is he committing?
Not going that far. This has been an odd recruitment, due to circumstances we all know --- moving from apparent UNC lock to many thinkng he was gone. The latter was never really the case, but the vibe has defintiely changed back in a positive direction. We''re very much in the game, but these days I ain't making no predictions...

UNC is the place to be right now!
Join the Family, Mr. Wilson!

Forever Family is a pretty good thing to have behind you. A chance to win a Natty is dadgum good to in your 1 taste at college bball!

Was hoping for an announcement on his visit. Leaving without a commitment leaves the door open but even the most pessimistic among us can't overlook that he and his family came back to campus on their own dime!

Pull the trigger Caleb. You KNOW this is the place you want (and need) to be!
