I agree, either declare Michigan as the National Champion or don't do anything.

Doesn't make sense that they would not award Michigan the championship. Unless they are trying to prevent one team from participating in lies or underhanded activity to "win" a championship. I think in the Tour de France or the Olympics when a competitor that won is declared ineligible the award always goes to the runner up. Wonder why this is different?

I think is does a great deal to loyal fans. Imagine walking into the DES and only seeing 6 Natty Banners; it would hurt every time I looked up at the gaping hole! It tarnishes your legacy forever, but it doesn't take away the hard fought wins it took to get the banner!

So what happens if they don't take down the banner? If there are no penalties then I'm leaving it up if I'm UL.

I agree. Allowing them to keep the NC is allowing them to reap the benefits of ill-gotten gains.

Imagine if UNC had to vacate last year's NC. Every time they talk about past champs, they would talk about how UNC cheated. Every time you talk about UNC's history, that has to be mentioned. Every time there is a tournament, it gets mentioned in the history portion of the segment. In the record books there is a glaring gap or an asterisk with, "UNC vacated the NC for violations."

It may seem insignificant in terms of, 'Yeah, but I celebrate the hell out of that win and you can't take that away,' but it leaves a lasting stain. Every time UK fans mock UL, this will be what they lead with (which is ironic coming from UK and fans supporting Calipari).

We all know the NCAA would find a way for dook to keep theirs probably saying since the people ineligeble didn't know they were it is ok this doom is allowed to keep their title and will not be docked any schollies, and will be awarded the next five championships because we love k

Sooo....when will the vaunted NCAA make him remove it from his shoulder. Will he have to submit a "show cause" every time he goes shirtless?

I think they deserve more sanctions for the Dad Body than the cheating!

Absolutely. I'm guessing they can't hang a banner that has the NCAA logo on it, or anything that says "NCAA", but that's pretty easy to get around. If I were them, I'd take down the banner (if there's NCAA referenced), and then put one up that's 5 times the size that just says "2013 National Champions".

Wiki has already changed it to Michigan. I looked under the ncaa 2013 men's basketball tournament.

Anyone can edit Wikipedia. That will get reverted. The NCAA site shows Louisville as champions with a footnote saying it was later vacated.

I personally think it does not matter everyone knows the Cardinals won so it does not matter. It is NCAA bullshit ! Dook and Kensucky clearly cheat and nothing is done. I don't even know what the cardinals did wrong ! Don't care really either. If I ever get on jeopardy show and answer is 2013 men's NCAA champion , I am buzzing in with the Cardinals !

If you had to bet, what's your guess as to how many NCAA champs in either football or basketball were completely clean in the last 25 years. 50 champs - what percent do you think are straight up pristine per NCAA rules?

1. It's pretty dumb to say it should go to Michigan by default. It shouldn't.

2. We are probably not Louisville's favorite school today. A lot of their fans are pretty pissed that their title is now vacated while we get to keep ours (you can't blame them for being pissed at how both our situations turned out, to be honest).

Louisville won the national championship that year. OK, they can't fly a banner for it, but I watched them win it! So many living in glass houses throwing stones.

Im banned from DI so i cant see but i would love to see if any of those nuts are on there saying Dook should have a case to be the champs since LVille beat them in the Elite 8

If they’re upset with UNC, they can get over it. UNC didn’t break any rules. Don’t act like the ncaa turned a blind eye towards us.

I mean yeah, I agree with you. But it's not exactly hard to see why they would feel they've been hard done by, given the juxtaposition of the results (not the facts) in our outcome vs their outcome.

Just stating many of their fans are upset, and I can't blame them for being upset in the wake of the news.

We all have rules to live by. Break the rules, get caught, pay the price. The price this time includes vacating the '13 title. Very simple. They got what they deserved. The other 300+ teams were cheated out of having a fair chance to compete. Without rules and consequences we don't have a sport to watch.

The problem with just handing the title to Michigan is what about the teams Louisville beat to get to the title game, maybe had one of those teams not had to play Louisville they would have beat Michigan?

Correct. I like this better than the Tour De France analogy because in that race, everyone is competing against every else at the same time. Same with most Olympic events...

The reason UL was hit so hard is due to the fact that these recruits were underage. Had they been 18 when it went down, there wouldn't have been a significant penalty. The Bowen issue probably didn't help either.

I also hate to see this. I don't mind U of L and I even liked Pitino; but that is not the point. I just don't like wins being vacated. I think it is absurd. If they want to take away scholarships or put a team on probation or even fire a coach I am ok with it. But this punishment is ridiculous. I hope UL takes them to court and wins!
