Carolina at Wake Forest game thread on: Tuesday 7 February 2023.

Things are beginning to look a little bleak right now but with Wake, Clemson and Miami next on the schedule Carolina has a excellent opportunity to make a bunch of noise and progress. My hope that last year’s disaster in Winston Salem does not show its ugly head again. Mansanto has been burning up the nets recently and with Appleby still playing at all ACC caliber clip Wake is loaded. Playing defense has not been UNC’s strong point this season but to win this battle away from home the defense needs to get energized and play like Miami did against Duke last night…

As important as this game to me as a fan is I can only hope the Tar Heels can pull this one out without my constant play by play and posting here. Today is my wife’s birthday and I am taking her to the Tanger Center in Greensboro to watch “River Dance” which is currently on tour in the States. Yes I have my priorities right and I know it. Thank goodness I can DVD the game…

So, they're doing a deep drop on RJ's ball screens. The center doesn't even try to come out of the paint. Why not set a hard screen rather than the half-effort rolls and just let RJ take an open 3?

How does Nickel not play now? You couldn't possibly play worse D than this. I don't think we've forced Wake into a single tough shot yet, literally. It's been layup, postup, or open 3 except for a couple Leaky steals.
