Carolina's Ugly Crunch Time Numbers Reveal Staggering Truth
North Carolina has lost six games at crunch time and here we reveal the ugly numbers from those situations

Thanks, but it’s patently obvious that UNC has wet the bed down the stretch in quite a few of our games. Our lack of confidence is seemingly getting worse every game. Like others, I’m beginning to think the team has lost confidence in the staff. I can’t blame them if they have. I think they sense that the staff doesn’t really know how to right the ship. I can relate to that as I have zero confidence that this staff can do so. It pains me to type that but there it is.
The "Combined" summary of those six games is absolutely PATHETIC and pretty much sums up this season. Have you even seen a UNC team put together a set of stats that bad in your entire life ?? Un freaking believable !!!Read the numbers. They are shockingly bad.

I look at our seasonal statistics every couple of weeks. If your “crunch time” numbers are worse, and I have no doubt they are significantly so, I don’t want to see them.Read the numbers. They are shockingly bad.
They are fng glaringly bad. AJ ought to open that article up to Radar ...or at least put that 1 section in as a teaser. It's not like we don't know it he just succinctly put in a "Combined" paragraph. If your “crunch time” numbers are worse, and I have no doubt they are significantly so, I don’t want to see them.

HD just isn't a good coach, and he isn't getting any better or learning from his mistakes. To me the numbers speak to what we know and see.. the team lacks a dominant big man ..lack of rebounding and ability to get an inside touch for an easier shot… people complained about Bacot last year but he would be a difference maker with this team.. IMO HD put to much faith in Jalen being able to man the paint but he just gets pushed around & can’t keep his position
Thanks for sharing this work, really good peice even though the resulting data is telling. I watched the post game interview with HD following the Pitt game. You asked him about this lack of end game performance and his response was interesting. He has to know this already but didnt seem to acknowledge or want to address this specific issue for some reason. This problem you've revealed has become a storyline, nationally and HD will certainly want to get ahead of it or at least have a reasonable explanation. It seems like a tough task to press him on this data tho. He seems like such a nice guy, a great person but I wonder if there is enough humility to own it and answer with at least some honesty.I am actually making it public in a minute. It's too important for only a few UNC fans to see.
"Pitiful, plum pitiful" fify ... or my fav Huey Lewis song "Sometimes Bad Is Bad" ... that stat in itself is both pathetic and depressing."Pitiful, just pitiful..
Don't think I have read anything that depressing since Brian's Song. -50 in crunch time scoring. To quote Jed Clampett, "Pitiful, just pitiful..
Thanks for making available to us peons. Sad that Coach Smith's "Tradition of Excellence" has become a tradition of mediocrity. February bubble-talk is now the norm. And it doesn't even include the Pitt game.
Bubs, indeed. So far, he's been on the bubble 75% of his tenure. Looking more like 80% soon. I certainly would love to see these guys turn it around, we are all pulling for them. I really feel bad for HD, honestly, he was put into a position without the professional experience and knowledge, everyone knew it. This concept is nothing new, stuff happens all the time in business. It's not necessarily his fault, people he trusted to huge risks and to date, it hasn't worked so he will be the one left "holding the bag". It may be time to review this decision based on the full body of work over the last four years and make an honest determination for if a major change is necessary. Thanks for making available to us peons. Bang on EC all you want but tell me what they’re trying to execute that he’s failing at? The combination of not having a clear plan, treating an undersized and not Uber athletic SG as a go-to hero, not having a consistent big who can go get a basket, and the tightening of sphincters, defense and whistles are all contributing factors. While EC definitely needs to be more consistent with emotions and shooting with confidence when he shoots, he is forced to take chances and is responsible for a huge percentage of easy shots this team gets, especially in the half court.Late game execution and situational basketball. Both have been the downfall of this season.
All season long, I think the lack of having a big you can trigger your offense through has had a big impact. For as gifted a passer as Cadeau may be, his talent becomes neutralized without being able to play through a big.
But I will say… this late game execution (which is generally half court execution) has been that much more disappointing considering the expectations that were in place for Elliot Cadeau.
Forget fans calling him generational. Hubert said he’s be “unrecognizable” this season. Yet the late game execution has become the most predictable thing about this team. Obviously unfair to put all the blame on Cadeau but it’s disappointing considering his expectations.
I'm just saying I'm disappointed in totality in year 2 for him. But that's mainly because of unwarranted expectations that were placed on him. So probably more of a "me problem" than Cadeau. If I look at him completely objectively, he's had a much better sophomore season. He's improved his 2PT efficiency and FT efficiency. He's a developing talented young player and that's fine.Bang on EC all you want but tell me what they’re trying to execute that he’s failing at?
