well, there's no question that major college athletics has suddenly become an actual business. There is something wrong with our laws that do not allow the paying entities to collectively set limits.

They can set limits any time they want. All they have to do is not pay the price. Find another option. What we've seen so far is throwing money around doesn't always work (see FSU and TX A&M)
note the word 'collectively' that I purposely included. 'Collectively' indicates 'not individually', and the reasons for addressing this collectively rather than individually should be obvious.. If it isn't, I'll be glad to point some of them out.
So that would create a monopoly, which is cool if you don't like capitalism. I guess you could always cheat the system and get an anti trust exemption from Congress. Of course that leads to a players union, which would be significantly worse than what's going on now.
players can collectivize regardless. Institutions should also be able to, and without necessarily creating any monopolies. Congressional meddling specifically in sports is bullshit and IMO is self-serving according to what they want to see and not what is right and needed.
I have preached for a long time that the student-athlete scam was a house of cards that eventually would have to come down. It shouldn't have to come down like this.

this genie practically exploded out of his (hers, its...) bottle, and I don't think I'm the only one that's been surprised by that. The NCAA and its members were depants'd, it seems like. They need to at least try to corral that bad boy once they get their britches pulled back up..
Well got one from Michigan and how many do we need? I admit I haven’t looked at the updated roster to see how many we have but pretty sure we can use that ship for much needed other positions.
Scholarship count goes up to 105 this year. We aren't sacrificing anything for a kicker unless you're looking to go 10 deep at TE.
10 deep at TE seems to be the norm here lol. Like I said not sure what the depth chart looks like for kickers but definitely don’t need more than about two scholarship players imo then a walk on or two is fine
Two is way too thin. One gets hurt and you're banking on the other guy being good at kickoff, punting and kicking FG. He might be taking a spot from the fourth string FB, but I think it's a smart tradeoff.

Well, we're not exactly OSU so you aren't going to have 5 stars lining up to play. But I'm pretty sure BB won't turn any away just because we got another kicker. I'm not sure if you're understanding roster management that well.

Might need to get ready for a true freshman or Browne starting at QB…Sam did it and Baker is a better QB than him coming out of HighSchool….Also Browne was the 8A player of the year in Florida and has already been in college for a few years…
Don’t forget Spring Portal…Competition will make some of these guys hit the Portal…
Definitely recruiting coast to coast with another commitment from a CA kid which makes three if I’m correct. That’s fine but need to also not forget our footprint in the southeast while reaching across the country. But I’m sure he doesn’t need me to tell him that and someone will say that too…so go ahead.
Several N.C. kids have been offered from BB but I like that he’s looking everywhere for talent as this roster was a complete dumpster fire before he was hired. He visited several N.C. high schools in the last month building those relationships which isn’t hard to do with his pedigree.
I wonder if he visited the TE/PF manchild from Reidsville that committed to Oregon. Need to keep him home 🏠
Keep in mind he visited a lot of kids early on re-affirming the offers. And I agree with your point. Getting in now on some kids that are outside of what was Mack's footprint is wise.
Last two commitments the last few days are from both Florida and Georgia. Love that he’s getting guys from all over the country.
What’s the deal with Rice? Was he overhyped or what? He can’t seem to sniff the field much less a starting spot. As bad as the oline has been you would think he could get some PT. Now BB and crew are bringing in quite a few transfers for the oline it seems less likely he will play. Wouldn’t be surprised if he transfers in the spring.
He was considered not tough enough by the previous staff. He was given many opportunities by them.
Ok maybe new staff can whip him into shape otherwise move on and let him hit the portal
I don't know what your definition is of diamonds-in-rough. Nobody had heard of Cristo, Boone is more of project, didn't have many other offers. Also, I'm not making assumptions based on name. McVay was at Bama, Lindberg was at UGA. Can't get bigger than that. McVay was taken for his size and athleticism rather than his production to date. He's certainly produced more than Rice who is also here due to size and athleticism, but that is a low bar.
Lindberg looks ok as a guard, nothing dynamite. But McVay, Cristo, and Boone don't look like instant impact starters, and I don't see why you'd feel their ceiling was better than the OT who left.
Since the post above, the guy from Troy looks great though.
The QB we got from VA from the tidewater area got a massive boost in ratings on TOS he is a now a 4 Star…
You're a little late on your reply, so I'm not entirely sure what has been said, but if you look at the players resumes you'll see players that are at the top of their conference. Even though it's not P4, being at the top of a conference makes it hard to be a diamond in the rough.
Nobody else making an offer is what makes it more akin to being a diamond in the rough. McVay got offers cuz he's massive and young, some time left develop (not unlike the outgoing OT). Boone is massive too and i think got just one other P4 offer. Cristo... no other offers. And we're aren't sure what Lindberg from Rice's offers were, for all we know he and his agent kept things really quiet.
