I don't know what your definition is of diamonds-in-rough. Nobody had heard of Cristo, Boone is more of project, didn't have many other offers. Also, I'm not making assumptions based on name. McVay was at Bama, Lindberg was at UGA. Can't get bigger than that. McVay was taken for his size and athleticism rather than his production to date. He's certainly produced more than Rice who is also here due to size and athleticism, but that is a low bar.
Lindberg looks ok as a guard, nothing dynamite. But McVay, Cristo, and Boone don't look like instant impact starters, and I don't see why you'd feel their ceiling was better than the OT who left.
