Coby White to the Draft

Kid has earned every penny and we should all feel very fortunate we got to have him as our PG this season.

He came in and played his way to a lotto pick by having one of the best freshman seasons by a UNC player and possibly the best by a PG.

Go get your money.

Don't know that I would go quite that far but I bet he will be one of the better ones for sure. Good luck Coby !!

Who is Roy’s best pro?

I think Coby is an All-Star in the league. How many of those has Roy had?

This headline in my email really pissed me off because for a split second I thought he might actually be staying.

Regardless, good luck Coby.

I loved watching Coby as a Tar Heel. The dude is an incredible talent.

Now the spring recruiting season becomes so critical. The roster as-is would be NIT caliber. Roy needs to grab Anthony and two more impact players.

I think Paul Pierce is the only all star. I would say Barnes or Willams would be his best UNC pro.
Danny Green probably.
After that - Felton, Lawson, Bullock, Barnes, Ellington ....
but I can see Coby being more of a star than any of these guys. Can score inside and out unlike any other.

Lawson should’ve been an all star with his gifts but never seemed to play any d and I think experienced off court drinking issues?

Happy for Coby sad for the program. 5 out of the top 6 gone. Will be more of the same next season with one and done and grad transfers. Getting like other schools rebuilding every season.

Danny's career stats are 9.5 points and 3.5 rebounds. Marvin is 10.5 and 5.3. Barnes is 13.6 and 4.9. Green isn't as good as either player. I would put Lawson (12.7, 2.7 and 6 assist) ahead of Danny. You could probably make an argument that Lawson was his best UNC player.

As others stated, I will truly miss watching Coby as a Tar Heel. Gave 110% every s8ngle minute on the court. Carried himself extremely well. He was everything and then some that we all hoped for.

People will continue on with their angst over the roster, who we need, commits, transfers, etc. Let’s give it a few weeks and I believe everything will sort itself out and UNC will be just fine. Trust in Roy and staff. They’ve earned that much from us as fans.

Go Heels!!

Down here there is talk concerning the Hawks, i.e., they have two 1st-round picks and there are murmers they might look at using the later one on Coby as a 2 to play next to Tre Young;

A few mock drafts have him going there! That would be a lethal back court!

Thanks Coby for exceeding expectations and definitely carving your way into UNC history. Hard to excel here as a freshman, and a pg to boot! Lol I know he probably won’t see these but he deserves all the kind words we throw his way.

The second coming of Steph Curry with that quick release. I'm so happy for him and his family. A future NBA all-star.

Great decision for Coby and that's all that matters.

As many on here have said, he's earned every penny (and dollar, and million) he gets.

He represented the Heels with class, skill, grit and distinction. He made an enormous contribution to a potentially ordinary team, helping lift this years group to a share of the ACC reg season and sweet sixteen (much greater than many of us could have hoped for)

He's also single-handedly destroyed some of the myths surrounding Roy and player development... by going from an upper twenties ranking to potential lottery, by improving throughout the season, by allowing himself to be coached he's shown how Roy prepares players for the next level. Roy doesn't just roll out the balls and let the OAD kids free-lance in a so-called 'position-less system', he prepares them by coaching and teaching them structured fundamental basketball throughout the season.

All the best Coby, thanks for the contribution and keep wearing those pink shoes for your dad (I'm guessing that's why he kept wearing them)

I think his game is best suited for the NBA. Can only help us with potential OADs and PGs that he was a fringe top 25 recruit and ended up in the lotto after one year. Roy’s PGs get the ball a lot and are featured a ton. Cole should be paying attention.

So glad that he can help out himself and his family. It is never easy to lose a parent so young and Coby has done so well for his family and UNC.

Hawks have a PG. Don't see that happening.

Thanks Coby. One of the most entertaining players at UNC and a hoss. Hope you kill it at the next level.

i agree he's an NBA type point guard, and i look forward to his success as a pro. i don't mind OAD's at forward and shooting guard, but overall i think roy's teams are more successful with a playmaking, pass-first PG who stays long enough to become a team leader. i know coby improved his assist numbers, but they were mostly passing around the perimeter to guys hitting 3's without dribbling which counts as assists, but is not great playmaking. coby is a scorer.

Will Coby play at the combine or just get measured? I know the top guys usually do not play but not sure how far down that goes. I think he could really help his position going head to head in games because there just aren't many 6'5" pg's
