evidently getting an endorsement deal comp to a star athlete who’s actually playing. Nike is going all in on positioning themselves in the young hip hop culture demographic while pretty much giving the finger to the white male over 35 market. Will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Eh, nothing will change. Some people will scream about it, but Nike will still sell plenty of shoes. The average customer doesn't care about politics when it comes to what they buy. It's the same reason why Chick-fil-A and in-n-out weren't hurt with the outrage against them.

The snowflakes that keep cutting the swoosh off of their gear is kinda funny though.

They could always donate that stuff to the homeless veterans they pretend to care about.

I tried that, but the homeless veteran said he would wait for the Under Armor stuff because they didn't crap on the flag he fought for. I was a little surprised, but figured the next homeless vet would take them. He made me cut the swooshes off all of them before he would receive them.

I literally laughed out loud. In the middle of class.

Genius play. They won't lose many customers. People will just want shoes/gear and won't care about the political stunts.

And all the free publicity tho... "OMG, looks at Nike being so tolerant!!!" "Look at Nike standing up for racial equality!!!!". They know bozos will be out there touting their name and giving them advertising they don't need to pay for. Very smart.

It is a little ironic that people are propping up Nike for making a stand on social justice when half of their products are made in sweat shops...

They just want to sell more stuff.

My guess is the people who care about this are more likely to wear Carhartt than Nike.

This.

I thought it was funny watching old men burn Nike socks that were clearly purchased in 1993.

I also found the lady with the IQ of 55 on Twitter hilarious yapping that she knew Nike was the devil and that's why she always buys Converse.

Nike does make some great stuff if you can afford 350 dollar pairs of running shoes that last for 100 miles.

Nike has his money and he has the socks.

It's too bad it wasn't a car company that did this.

Doesn't Nike own converse?

The other, more subtle irony is that every person that goes out and buys under armor or another sports brand is also just swelling the market. You’re not hurting Nike, you’re just making the whole pie bigger for the industry. Which is actually good for Nike if they aren’t losing overall market share. Which they aren’t because of the uptick from people who support the campaign. So Nike probably just maintains its current market share, but the market grows.

You've got to tweet back at that lady to let her know Nike owns Converse. Her reaction would be priceless.

Anyone dumb enough to sell their Nike shares right now deserves to take the hit

I could care less what an athletes political views are. The only opinion I care about from an athlete is how he or she performs or prepares for their craft.

I wish silly people would stop tying to juxtapose CK against Pat Tillman. They’re not even remotely comparable.

They both voluntarily gave up playing football to pursue a cause they thought to be more important. But I agree that's about where the comparison ends.
