Congratulations NC Republicans!

I used to think Trump couldn't win a general election but I've changed my mind. I think he will win. I think Cruz is indeed the much better choice. But people keep doubting Trump and his numbers continue to grow. He's starting to realize it too. I've seen a slight change in his demeanor. He's trying to become a bit more Presidential. His speech last night had a hint of graciousness in it.

The angry white guy vote might be enough to get Trump the GOP nomination but there's not a snowball's chance in h*ll it'll win him the general election.

Want to bet Jules?

The models being used now assume turnout will be approximately the same as in 2008 and 2012. I have more confidence in global warming models than I do in turnout matching 2012.

No thanks on the bet, I think betting our future is more than enough.

So you are voting for Trump to then, because you have to know a bet on Hillary is akin to betting on Moo to win anything other than bass fishing.

That's what I don't understand. Most of the people who are voting for him know he has no chance. It just doesn't make sense.....

what doesn't make sense is the system we now have in place-- where politicians are just in it to abuse the system and get what they can at the expense of all of us. read the book, Throw them all out--it talks about how both sides get rich from insider trading, land deals and other things that would put me and you in prison. Its disgusting how both sides only care about what they can get from the offices they hold. not saying that Trump is the answer or that i will actually vote for him but part of me thinks some of the concern the republicans and the democrats have over trump is it upsets the great deal they both have going on now.

i think Clinton will be 100% better fiscally than the one we have now but not sure i will be using her as my moral measuring stick regardless of her opposition.

You doubling down on your prediction that Trump has no chance to win GOP nomination?

Man, your faith that Hillary won't be President is encouraging. But I have to ask why. Why are you so sure?

0) Democrat strong holds like Penn, Ohio, Mich, etc hate Hillary. What area of the country has been killed most by NAFTA and free trade? Those states are going Trump.
1) Democrats dislike Hillary more than Republicans disliked McCain and Romney. That doesn't get the vote out.
2) There is no way Hillary will be able to get the turnout Obama did, especially from African-Americans. This demographic historically has poor turnout, yet it was the highest turnout for any demographic in the last 2 elections. Do you think that black turnout will more resemble 2004 or 2012?
3) Trump persuades people. Look at his 9 month track record. He has gone from "laughing stock" to "no way he can get the nomination" to "no way he can be president" You want to bet against that?
4) Hillary's weaknesses are Trump's strengths.
5) Hillary's strengths are stuff nobody cares about.
6) Hillary will get railroaded on character issues. She already tried going on the offensive against Trump once by saying he was against women. Anyone remember how that turned out?

I don't remember ever saying I didn't think it was possible for him to win the nomination but I have said many times I don't think he has a chance winning the White House.

forgot who i bet with on this board, but i'm even more confident now that bill clinton will be back in the white house.

if only he were gay and married to michael bloomberg.

I can't check because your profile is private and I don't want to page through threads, so I will take your word for it.

Couldn't agree more. The "angry white guy vote" as you phrase it might be enough to beat Cruz and Kasich and the rest - but it isn't enough to win in a general election.

The thing that will win him the general election is that he'll be going against Hillary Clinton.

That will be a neat trick after she's been indicted, stripped of her security clearances, and unable to attend any classified briefings.
Never... going... to... happen! NEVER!

Global elites are not accountable. And... they protect their own, even when they might appear to have differences. You can keep telling yourself that Cinton is going to be indicted and prison and anywhere else. But, I will bet you ANY amount that she will NEVER be indicted.

Billy and I have a bet from many months ago ... I have Trump winning the General, he has Hildabeast. I'm as confident as ever!

This is exactly right. What makes folks think that the pissed off voters will only vote in the Primary? That is just stupid. If anything, MORE pissed off people will go out and vote in the General because that's what "really matters."

I'm just looking forward to the Trump vs Hildabeast debate, that will be a doozy! And there will only be one ... HRC isn't stupid enough to let him destroy her face-to-face more than once.

Not all Republicans are as "pissed off" as Trump supporters, though. In fact, Trump currently has less support than any Republican candidate in recent memory, as evidenced by the fact that he runs a real risk of not having the nomination locked up before the convention.

I think it will actually be the other side's candidate who drives turnout on both sides. Even Democrats who aren't happy about Hillary's nomination (like me) will show up to vote against Trump. And vice versa. There's so much animosity for both candidates that this election could get ugly.

maybe congress will decide o_O

@gunslingerdick remember when you asked me why I was confident of a Trump win?

Here's a 15 second piece- his very first shot over Hillary's sizeable bow. How would you grade him on his first volley?

that reminded me of an in living color sketch...

as for people that will use that as a legit message, i'd be concerned about an angry mob.

I'm not sure why there is any doubt Donald Trump can win. In a way, he should win. He is a perfect reflection of what a huge portion of our society stands for and has become. To whatever extent he scares the members of the political parties, that's great. If it means he's beyond their control... awesome. Where it becomes more dangerous, is that he seems to be beyond his own control.

Yep- it made you laugh, just like those sketches used to.

This is not about trying to appeal to reason, this is about getting people to vote. One has very little to do with the other.

trump is the perfect wrestling promoter or special teams coach in football.

there are four or five times a year or during a game that you need to fire up your players or the fans, and they know exactly what buttons to push.

What control does he seem to be lacking? His purpose is to garner votes at this moment, not negotiate trade deals with China. When the time comes for that, he will do whatever is needed to do to give himself the best chance to win that contest.

And he has already proven he is quite under control in any number of ways. You guys still think campaigns are about reason and I have no idea why.

Which is funnier- the fact that Trump used a clip of Hillary barking like a dog or the fact that Hillary actually barked like a dog?

he's already fractured the party he claims to be a part of...don't get me wrong, it's highly entertaining for me, mostly because both parties disgust me, but this could backfire for him...and of course he'll be fine because i don't think he cares either way, but what if people get so caught up in this moment that they realize it's not about reason?

it'd be great to see more than 2/3 of the population vote...i don't think it'll happen, but i've got my popcorn ready.

Oh look- here's an anti-Trump ad. And what is your response to that? Your first response, not your "thought-out I don't want to offend anyone" response.

Excellent analogy. And just how has Vince McMahon done for himself?

oddly enough, they've had very similar lives, minus all the marriages by donald.

vince failed big time with cross promotion, so perhaps that might link them for life after hillary beats his ass this fall.

The party is going after him, not him after the party. And the fracture has occurred as a result.

It is highly entertaining, I agree completely. And people have never voted on reason and are not about to start now.

Turnout will be lower than projected for Dems, higher than projected for Pubs. Independents will go mostly for Trump. This is going to be a bigger rout than the first Desert Storm.

Remember what they did to Black Jack Mulligan back in the day with the chair? Hillary will be lucky to get off so easily
