Cuse Vs Dook

dook was 10-33 from long distance. That tells the tale as they still live and die by the three. Bolden, DeLaurier, and Jeter rode the pine all night long, not a minute of play time.

To be fair, Jeter is hurt and can't play.......but your point still remains. Bolden should def be playing. Duke fans will always hate that K doesn't sub more and UNC fans will always complain about Roy subbing too much at times. K can be really stubborn when it comes to certain things and sometimes it's to our demise.

As can Roy, but their success earns them that right I guess.

Bilas just did a take where he said no league has ever had 4 HOF coaches at their peak like the ACC has this year in Williams, Krzyzewski, Boeheim, and Pitino. We're very fortunate.

Guess they expanded seating in the Dennard Memorial seat 14-15 places down from LOM.
I watched the last couple of minutes, the guard from Syracuse was on it and the defense by dook, what defense...

I will say I didn't see the game, so I can't comment on the quality of the officiating. I will say that I have probably never seen a game in any sport that had perfect officiating!:)
But the stats say Duke had 18 fouls, 'Cuse 15
Duke had 17 FTs, 'Cuse 25 So how biased could it have been?

IDK that you find a lot of Tar Heels that complain about Roy using his depth as he does, we seem to be to obsessed with Roy holding on to his TOs than anything else. LOL

I think you will find a lot more duke fans that would prefer K to play his bench more than you will find UNC fans wanting Roy to shorten his. Now you will see UNC fans that would prefer specific players to get less PT but that is more about the specific player than it is about using depth properly. For example, I personally would prefer less Nate but my less Nate equals more BRob or 7th Woods now that Kenny is out.

Is Jeter out for the season because he sure has not played much since Giles & Tatum returned ? Bolden, got how many minutes last night, how about Deloraur? It is weird, going in to this season it looked like once duke got everyone healthy that you would have a really solid long and big front court that was more talented than either FSU or LVille. And here we are deep in the season, all or at least most of your players are healthy and you run a bunch of 3 guard looks and strand 2 five stars and a 4 star front court guy on the bench and even Giles is not getting much time so that is a 3rd 5 star?

Only a 5* center ranked 16th in the country by Rivals coming out of high school. I did a comparison about a month ago that showed Luke's numbers compared to those of Jeter, Bolden, and DeLaurier combined. That's one 3* vs two 5*'s and a 4*. Here are the latest stats.

Luke: 13.9 MPG, 5.2 PPG, 3.8 RPG

J/B/D: 30.5 MPG, 6.4 PPG, 6.2 RPG

Just demonstrates once again how much better Roy develops and utilizes his bench.
Archer, your math is a little off. All of those guys have several DNP, so they are averaging way less than 30 MPG. But your point that Luke Maye is more utilized this year than those 3 combined is absolutely true. In fact, factoring in the DNPs those numbers all go way down.
Many of us are frustrated that Bolden in particular, and probably Javin, aren't playing more. Jeter has been hurt (back surgery) and wasn't very good before that. I know that's a favorite talking point, but he has just not been as good as his * rating. A case could be argued that he wasn't developed. If you've seen him play, it's hard to make the case that he should be playing.
As I said, your point stands though. Of the 4 guys you list, Maye is certainly the only current overachiever.

Correct.

Correct again, and I agree about shortening Nate's PT completely.

They have the deepest, most talented front line in the country, yet K won't play them. Instead, Tatum and Jones play all 40 minutes against Syracuse and Kennard plays 37. Even if Jeter is hurt, DeLaurier and especially Bolden would be getting major burn on most teams.

Has Bolden gotten enough PT to still merit being OAD, as was the general consensus coming in? Do one or more of these guys transfer after the season? I think that's a distinct possibility.

jeter had back surgery, did K get a BOGO deal so he could get his on the cheap? ;)

Archer, your math is a little off. All of those guys have several DNP, so they are averaging way less than 30 MPG.
True, they have missed several games, just how many due to injury and how many due to the coach's decision not to play them is debatable. Lets' look at it from a more accurate perspective, something that I think demonstrates my point even better.

Luke: 24 GP, 124 TP, 92 TR
B/D/J: 48 GP, 95 TP, 88 TR

I'll bet you are. I'll also bet those players their parents are frustrated as well.

I agree. I think it's more of people having an issue with some of the unusual line ups he has out there at times when using that depth. Not necessarily playing as many people as he does. In his defense, he cuts back on that as the season progresses so it doesn't bother me.

Jeter has practiced some in drills, but not ready to play yet. DeLaurier & Bolden just aren't playing due to Coach K going with the best 5-7 in his mind. I also agree that there are probably more Duke fans wanting K to use his bench than there are UNC fans wanting to Roy shorten his. Many coaches (especially older ones) get stuck in their ways. This was the year Duke was going to be able to go 10 deep and I kept warning Duke fans that we would be lucky to see him go 8 deep.

ratty has always had a well populated dog house and many times it has nothing to do with skill or game play! There is no possible excuse for these guys not seeing the court and Jeter didn't sniff any minutes when he was healthy! At UNC they would have played a ton of minutes and all of them would be better by now. Bolden has real potential and Giles seems healthy to me so.....

I have heard peeps complain that Roy plays too many players for years. This is conventional and antiquated thinking. It is traditional because peeps seldom have 10-12 that CAN play at a high level. Roy gives every player on his team a chance to develop his game and gets them all ready in case they are needed. ratty played peeps with 4 fouls and still never gave the lost boys a chance. I hope Roy continues to play 10 peeps all season because it wears teams down and we all saw it happen to Lville!

having talent and then exercising it..2 different things..some players are not good practice players, hence little PT..potential means you haven't done it...doesn't bother me Bolden and Giles ride the pines..RW and K is a Hall of Fame coach-players must earn it

I've heard DeLaurier is very strong in the classroom, and was swayed by dook academics.

If academics were so important he should have gone to an Ivy league school.

These so-called bright kids continue to get tricked by kay/capel and end up looking foolish in the end.
