Butter is one of my favorite players of all time. I hated that he was not retained by Hubert going forward. I had inquired as to why but I never got a specific answer. To that point I see where Kendall’s dad, Dennis posted on twitter that he had wanted three teams not to make the final four and dook and UNC were two of them. I hate to see our own alums and or their families knock the Tar Heels. It is one thing to be bitter but for Kendall’s dad to put it out on social media is in very bad taste.

I talk with him via social media. He's a very big UNC/Roy Williams fan. And I do mean "very big".
His feelings about HD are quite different.
Not saying you are wrong in your assessment of Dennis Marshalls feelings towards Roy........But, Mr Marshall was quite critical of Roy and how this team played the two previous years. I will also say some of the things he was critical about sounded like 2nd hand comments from somebody " Close to the program".
Hubert is about honesty and LOYALTY.
I think we all can surmise why Kendall was not retained.
It pains me because Marshall was on of my favorite pg in Carolina history.
What is he currently doing? I don't actually know and was curious.

Who cares about anything Dennis Marshall has to say???
Yeah I hear ya but as I stated I really loved Butters game and I have fond memories of talking to Dennis before Kendall became a McDonald’s AA. It’s just kind of sad and bizarre but today is not about

Thanks for responding. I had talked with Dennis on social media right before it was announced that Kendall made the McD’s AA Team. I just want to know what happened? If you know and could explain things in more detail I would greatly appreciate it. If you don’t want to do it on the message board I can give you my email address.

Is Kendal this upset that he was not retained for Hubert's staff? Hard to understand actually but if this is how Kendal reacts over this kind of thing then the decision to not retain him was well made. If Dennis was expressing what Kendal really felt while on Roy's staff then yet another real reason Kendal no longer needed to be on that UNC staff because that is very disloyal to Roy.

Loyalty is lost on this generation for the most part, sad really.

I liked Kendall, too! I wish he would have stayed a while longer. But... his dad making crappy comments on Twitter probably got his son left out of the staff. He certainly didn't help. His Twitter-happiness isn't making things any better.

Many people and fans hated how 2020 and 2021 went down, but some things were beyond human control.
I do know this for sure, Dennis Marshal loves RW and wishes he was still the HC. I feel the same way actually and that isn't a knock on Hubert at all. He is doing an amazing job.✍️

Some people don't understand how destructive social media is. Dennis Marshall is one of them.

Well then Dennis, hate it for ya bUt UNC IS NOW IN THE FINAL 4! wE HAVE DUKE UP next, SO WHO DO YOU ROOT FOR, unc OR DUKE?

Look, his leaving was not just his dad. I like Butter and he's a good dude, but he crossed the line with certain players, as in becoming an advocate for some at the expense of others. That's a learning-curve thing for a young coach in his position, and I'm sure he meant well, but it was what it was, and it's the main reason (as I understand it) he wasn't retained.

As for his dad, welp.... I wish he'd just put a lid on it. He's not doing Kendall any favors vis-a-vis his career.

Like Roy said, he was not the best man for the job now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I wish he would have stayed too. I can’t imagine what his stats would have been if he would have stayed 4 years and not two. So I’m

ok, now I’m getting a little clarity into what happened and I appreciate it. Outside looking in it looked like a great hire. With his BB IQ and overall talent. Plus with him and Sean it seemed to be great for the overall coaching staff. With two former players on staff who were elite and highly successful at their perspective positions. One big man and the other arguably the hardest position in all of college basketball a UNC Tar Heel PG. And of course, former players don’t always make great coaches. As was previously stated Dennis isn’t doing Kendall any favors by these comments. Anyway I’m glad he didn’t get his wish. GDTBATH

RW was taking the high road. He's as classy as you will ever find.
The man was truly hurt with the transfer of Kessler and how it was done. That move pushed him out the door more than anything else. It was the proverbial nail.
The maturity we now see in this 2022 team would have happened under him as well.
Freshman become Sophs and Sophs become Juniors.👈

The coaching profession is one that is transitory in general, even more so for assistants. A head coach needs to fully trust his assistants, and assemble his staff with that in mind when hired. Been in both positions, you MUST have a staff that you can bounce ideas off and get strong active takes from in coaches meetings, etc. Sometimes heated behind closed doors, but you MUST know that when you deal with the team or media that you are on the same accord.

If Kendell wants a future in coaching, he would be well served, in my opinion, to limit the public disparaging comments from himself or dear ol' dad in general.

Why blow his comments up like this????

DM was speaking from his heart and it had nothing to do with Kendal coaching or not

Kendall's father is a good man, remember Kendall as the best 9th grader in his class and committing to Carolina Early to us.

Look it sounds like it's not a good fit for Hubert's staff (Kendall strives in ROY WillIAMS system), it is becoming very evident atleast to me, that Hubert and Roy have different ideas on offense.

Kendall don't fit, Carolina way will get him a job! Hope he coaches basketball at a local High school. Butter is unreal!

He`s a BITTER good man.

This comment is unworthy coming from someone who claims to be a Tar Heel. Butter and ,by extension his family, are Family and should be treated with respect. Especially, when they make mistakes or speak without controlling their emotions! The quote function seems to open the floodgates to a lot of ignorance I hoped the ignore function would block!

This is America. People are still entitled to express their opinions for the most part, although censorship is becoming more common every day. None of us should want that, even if it’s the opinions of idiots like the Proud Boys or BLM or even idiots on an anonymous message board.

I agree 1000%. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and nobody has the right to tell someone else how they must think! America is a beautiful experiment and I would never live anywhere else! It has some serious flaws and one of them is peeps seldom listen after they hear something they don't like these days! However, I believe we at UNC have something special and that the Carolina Way is something worth protecting! If someone claims to be Family, this carries a set of expectations and one of the most important is treating other Family with respect! (especially when they step out of bounds). One can comment and even attempt to correct improper behavior without resorting to disrespect aimed at Family! (I include bashing players/coaches during the season in this too) This is what this "Anonymous Message board idiot" attempted to convey!

(I am not angry over the comment since I choose to think it refers to others but it is funny to use it to me, lol)
