Dook goes down

Hold on. How the hell has Scheyer objectively shown he is better than anybody?
What did he accomplish outside of expectaions with his Rolls Royce player payroll and the biggest team in college basketball?

I've been critical as hell of Hubert's approach, but SMH at the notion that dookie-boy is necessarily better.
I'm just going on what my eyes see in Duke running way better strategic offense, and playing harder, better defense than hub's team. You've said all year that hub doesn't use players the right way. Would you say that about Scheyer? They got beat by a great defensive team last night, but all year Duke has been a well-oiled machine on offense, and brought it on defense most nights too. Their point differential was highest in years for an ACC team IIRC.

I didn't really see any schematic machine on either end as much as just overwhelming many opponents with physical and/or talent dominance. They weren't doing anything special.

Their offense was mostly bullying to the rim or shooting 3s and letting their size go to the boards. Houston kept them close by (literally) dishing out the first blows. Notice that their behemoth goon Center didn't do sh^^ when he got a dose of his own medicine (by guys nowhere near his size).

And when things tighetned up, Scheyer choked TBH, afraid to use his depth during the game and played not to lose. Hell, we were a lane violation from beating them here, even with our schematic flaws.

So he doesn’t get the credit when they play well but he choked and gets the blame when they lose? Meh, still a very young coach who did well with a really talented team. IMO you can over coach a team. Getting all that talent to buy in and play together is half the battle. I still can’t stand em though lol

Face certainly gets credit for underachieving just.like posters get "credit" for.choosing the worst possible venue to have a puke lovefest!

Why do peeps insist on finding ways to say a team who they supposedly support sucks even when the topic is other teams????

BTW: puke still sux!

I hope UNC gets to the point where winning a conference regular season title, conference tournament, and making the Final Four is called "underachieving."

If that's the case, UNC is in really good position in the college basketball world.

I'm glad Duke didn't win a title. For what it's worth, I picked Houston to win it all in my bracket and that's about the only thing I selected correctly so maybe for me, the end result isn't all that shocking. The manner in which is happened was though.

IMO, Scheyer has done a nice job considering he's a 37 year old first time head coach. But he's certainly had some bad moments in the NCAA Tournament. I thought last year's loss to NC State was far worse than this one.

If this happened in year 3 for Hubert, I don't think the tone would be what it is. But that's part of the rivalry.

Well, I think "meh" is the right term for the job he did. I will give props for buy-in, but in the end what they bpught into wasn't anythng special.

TBH, reminds me a lot of that "invincible" 2015 uk team until they encountered a better team in Wisconsin -- not as talented but better, in coaching and cohesiveness. Speaking of that Wisky team, that 2nd half butt-f***ing the zebras gave them to appease the Rat in the Final is still a travesty... 🦨

I find it interesting that the same peeps praising Face and claiming we refuse to give credit where it is due ALSO devalued Hubs wins by saying they either didn't win by enough or the teams he beat were substandard....wow isn't strong enough. BUT

You still miss the point. I hope it is intentional but I believe peeps are incapable of letting go of their own narratives!

Point= THIS thread is a puke bashing thread by a fanbase partially defined by its hatred of the designated rival! Once was Moo and now is puke-get onboard with the hate or at least start your own puke lick fest!

2016 we underachieved.

This was the second game this year where a team did everything they needed to do to lose, when the losing team
was making a comeback, can not remember the other one, seems like it was a game with 2 ranked teams.

Having 3 lotto selections in the next draft, having positional size that allows you to switch every screen and not worry about your PG being switched on to the other teams center, 5 stars in bulk coming off your bench, 3 starter level centers, 2 over 7ft? Of the well over 300 D-1 coaches in the country it would be hard to find one that would not have led this team to the final 4. If Scheyer can't take his team to the title game with that kind of advantage then you have to ask what it would take for him to be able to?

Semi-off topic: If anyone knows where one can get a recording of Jones' interview of Leaky Black right after the FF dook game a few years ago, I'd love to hear it again. It was one of the most joyous and hilarious things I've ever heard.

Winning that last game always takes a bit of luck since those last 4 teams are usually pretty evenly matched. That being said, dook not winning it this year has to be considered a huge failure, especially for the analytics folks. All time great offense, one of the best defenses, ..., fortunately the games are played on the court and not on paper.

Talking with dook friend of mine in January he said he felt confident as long as scheyer did not coach, just let them play. we agreed that dook's biggest problem was not having a natural pg who could set the table for everyone else while UNC was just too small when playing its most effective line-ups. Our solution was to trade Cadeau and Washington for Proctor and Maluach.

dook-friend does not compute!!! 😁But I would take the trade any day of the week! It actually would have made both teams better but I might have had a hard time getting over the puke stains on them!

Endgame coaching has to be the hardest thing to learn on the job! I see it growing in Hubs and I anticipate Face will get better at it too! If they both last, they could become a pretty interesting rivalry!

Total change of subject jeans, but what happened to your little man and his game? I’m sure he’s grown.
Oh. Thanks for asking.

We had a conversation after he got hurt and I found out he was only playing for me. Which explained a lot of things about his behavior. So he quit playing after his sophomore year and started focusing on school

He graduated high school as a junior and spent his senior year getting an associates degree.

He really likes science. So we will see where he goes to get his bachelor's.

I was disappointed naturally but we had a much better relationship after that. It was the best decision for him and I was proud he was honest with me. His first major decision for himself. Academically and mentally has paid off for him.

It breaks the cycle of College basketball players in Family as my brother played for Texas 88-91, my sister at Univ of New Orleans 85-88 and myself at TCU 93-95. However we played cause we had to. Couldn't afford college. He doesn't have that worry. So it really doesn't mean that much.

Thanks for asking.

Face has the benefit of ongoing ratface input....but I don't think he'll ever match rat for the willingness to throw his weight around and berate the officials with foul language and dare them to call another foul. Seems to have worked well for ratface. I think Face would just get 't'ed up....or laughed at.

Thanks for the update. I knew my youngest was around his age and remember his videos. You blink and it’s gone for sure.
