Yep, I detest most politicians although I've never met the vast majority of them. Why? Because I judge them on their actions, not their words.

I don't think your question was condescending. My post was directed more towards some of the other dook posters. Roy and Krazywhiskey are peers, I'm sure they have mutual respect for one another.
ETA: I doubt seriously that our Mods would allow such photoshopped pics of your çoach on this site. I would be the first to say something about it if they did.
The fortunate thing about K is that you don't need to photoshop pictures of him. He resembles a rodent enough on his own.

If this were true, he'd not be asked to represent the USA or be in VISA commercials.
The negative perception any on this broad have of k may not be reflective of his true self but neither is the "walk on water, greatest coach in the history of the universe" perception that exists on the dook board. I think this 'spy' stuff is complete nonsense. I am surprised so many would believe this. There are lots of legitimate 'on the court' reasons to dislike K.
As for message boards, all fanbases seem to think their rivals are obsessed with them. Rival fans are kind of obsessed with each other. That is the way it is. I'm not sure why fans want to act like there is anything wrong with this. Look at the Duke site. There are ridiculously long threads dedicated to us. They are obsessed. I have no issue with this. We ridicule them as well for the same reasons (maybe not quite to that level but we like ragging on them). Surely it is understood that 'obsessed' in this sense is some sort of relative term.
Second, we are all fans. We like different teams. We pull for different teams. I don't think there is a better program out there than North Carolina. I never will. I get that everyone doesn't feel that way though. I mean, I hope they lose every game they play and in embarrassing fashion. I understand that some people like them even if it makes little sense to me from my POV. I also understand that some of you, who probably live in NC, feel differently about this than I do.

K is very Belichickian. K must of really enjoyed espionage lectures back at the academy.
I think it's a good comparison Space. Both have great achievements but their achievements are somewhat tarnished by their propensity to bend the rules in order to win. And they are generally disliked by everyone but their own team's fans, for that very reason.
Bout says it all right there! i have some Duke friends and have exchanged e-mails with some good Duke fans from their board who are wonderful people. They are our #1 rival in basketball and all the ribbing-dislike is kinda understood. But I also got to tell my Tar Heel Brothers-Sisters, Coach K ain't all bad. Have seen him with my own 2 eyes visit Duke Cancer Center and one of my nurses tells me he also comes and gives speeches to the Cancer Center staff to help them work as a team. Never have liked him per say as a coach but the man does do some good.

Winning IS everything. But the rest of your point is well stated -- it must be accomplished within the rules and confines of the sport.
I will stand by an earlier statement: My boss, who roots for duke, knows Bill Parcells who was an assistant coach for Bobby Knight at Army He was told that K has it written into his contract that what K says during a game CANNOT be broadcast. If he wants to add something he will allow it. But otherwise microphones off. Incidentally, who provides most of the half time observations with the commentator.
And by the way, he is the face of USA basketball. Year in and year out. Isn't that somewhat disingenuous? And didn't he say this does not give him an unfair recruiting advantage? Say what????
I do not think Darth K-Der is an evil man, but I do think he is greedy, self serving, uppity and outside of Calipari, one of the most arrogant "Leaders of men" since Adolph Rupp.
Winning isn't everything, trying your very best IS everything. Saying winning is everything opens the door for all sorts of cheating. The end doesn't justify the means. That mindset is all too prevalent in today's society.

You mention society and how win-at-all-costs mentality is rampant? It's the total opposite. This society is messed up because everyone is focused on trying not to hurt people's feelings instead of focusing on results, i.e. winning. Trying hard isn't always enough and you end up losing. That's life. Tip your cap, dust yourself off, suck it up, and try again.
That's the worst you can find of K's "nasty" and "poor sportsmanship"? That 2nd clip is 11 years ago and he was sticking up for his players after 2 atrocious no calls. Also GT was hacking away that season, several of those players were bad guys. It was a calculated move by K. Also, he never cursed. It's clear most of you on THR just want to be extreme and hate us for your own satisfaction, truth be damned (no offense to Irby and the like). I am bowing out of this conversation.
