Elliot Cadeau

As I uinderstand it, that is supposedly still a violation, but good luck with the NCAA enforcing it.
I guess we will see if that offer shakes up this recruitment, but 2 things we need to keep in mind......

1. We have NIL opportunities for players too.

2. Cadeau has not taken an OV to their campus, but has had some conversations with Boeheim (sp?). If you cannot get a visit from a recruit, that generally means he is not interested. Also, can anyone see him playing in a Syracuse zone? I just don't think he would want that offense to play in.

Notwithstanding that cold weather, brutal.

He is acclimated to cold weather being from around the NY/NJ area and also having dual citizenship (Sweden/USA), however, Syracuse, NY is brutal in the winter.

Well, telling ya right now, if Cadeau does announce for us tomorrow night, Boogie will not likely be at UNC. These what if scenarios are great and all but there seems to be high level confidence that at least Love will leave after this season. 1 simple question if I may, same question I asked about Love and Bacot all last season, exactly where are they going to go? The ONLY player we have listed on any of the mock drafts I saw today was Caleb and he was list at 55 and 59 on the 2 he showed up on and was not listed on the 3rd one I looked at. So where is he going to go, he is a small slip to being un-drafted, he has fallen since this season began from 47? It isn't a matter of where I think he should be drafted, I have no ability to effect his draftability, I am talking reality rather than speculation?

Did we not just see a kid (#1 recruit in his class) commit to us and then change away from it as the situation further developed? How secure would a commitment be if re-class is a larger consideration when we very likely will have seniors Caleb and RJ as well as Wilcher, Trimble, and Dunn?

Further, while it is VERY CLEAR what gary and 75 think about Trimble, I would ask everyone else, does a freshman Cadeau start over a Jr Trimble, I would NOT bet on that or do you move Trimble to the 2 and sit Wilcher, yet another bet I would not take. If Cadeau does not re-class, a LOT can change between tomorrow night and his actual signing with a program, heck the NBA CBA could change (and that is a stronger bet that it does) and allow straight from high school to the league and do you not think the kid would take that road if it opened up? He is already known 1&D ya think he would not be looking at a none & done to the league if that op opened up?

The posters you mention in this thread don’t think Trimble is not an asset, they just don’t think he’s a prototypical lead guard. We get it, you think he is & that’s fine, time will tell.
Caleb would have been a late first rounder had he decided to leave last year, suppose he has that same type of finish to this season? My guess is that he will & he’ll move his way up the boards again. 75 has indicated that the plan is for Love to move on after this year & he’s pretty plugged into the program wouldn’t you say?
Finally, as far as Cadeau & Fland go, I’m sure Hubert has a pretty good pulse on the situation & knows where each of them stand, regardless of how any of the posters on this board think it’s going to go.

The thing to remember about GG Jackson is that his mother never wanted him anywhere but South Carolina. She was meeting with SC boosters to discuss NIL deals like a week or two after he committed to UNC. And his family was very dishonest when talking to UNC coaches about reclassifying.

If Cadeau does pick UNC, we'll have to continue to recruit him and fend off other schools. That's just the nature of the NIL game now. All we can do is hope everyone in the Cadeau camp is supportive of his commitment. That would be a significant step forward from where we were with GG's camp.

I had someone else refer to Caleb as being a first round pick last season, do you recall what mock that came from, was it a early season mock because the season ending mocks do not say that, unless it is a mock I did not check, would like to know what mock that came from. I have looked at several season end 2022 mocks today and Caleb can not be found and listed them in another thread today.

I do know for a absolute fact that Caleb wanted to be 1&D, when that didn't happen his plan was to leave after last season feeling he would be a solid 1st round pick, that didn't happen. So why would I believe he is definitely gone after this one if his best landing spots per the mocks TODAY is #55? It takes more than you just wanting to go, it takes a team willing to pick you. Caleb may have been slotted as a solid 1st round guy BEFORE last season began but he was not going to be picked in the first round after that season ended unless the mock draft sites have no clue about what they are talking about?

You tell me what I am supposed to believe, 7 or so mock draft sites that I have listed results of their season end mock draft projections or 75? Because they do not say the same thing? Go see the sites I checked, if there is a better site you feel is more accurate, please tell me the name of the site because I will be eager to check it out. I am not saying anyone is being less than truthful, I am saying the information does not match up. I have provided the mock draft sites I checked, don't believe me, please go look at them yourself, don't trust me just because I say something. I don't trust everything I am told but given no way to verify. Suppose that from my early days posting that I told everyone I was a former player but I refused to say who I was, how do you know I am telling the absolute truth? Man, I could be lying my butt off, you wouldn't know, would you? People pretend to be something they are not every day on this internet. Do you see my point?

ALL last season I* made this same point, everyone was telling me that BOTH Bacot and Love were gone because they were going to be solid draft selections and yet the season ending mocks that I have checked do not say anything about them being 1st or 2nd round picks. And in the end, what happened, not only did BOTH come back but neither even tested the water like Nance did.

I think Bacot will come back for a number of reasons and not the least is he really loves playing for UNC! I think Caleb is gone and I firmly believe he will continue to show the steep learning curve and will get himself drafted. I also think Seth will be the difference between a significant number of close wins as opposed to hard fought losses! Pitt might be the team for Seth to get even more minutes since they play a lot of smalls!

It seems a long shot for either to get into the 1st round at this point (but possible). The amount of money they can earn with NIL will certainly play a role in their decision as it did this year. Mando for all his love of UNC, has said he would of left already if not for NIL money.

Watch the FIBA highlights

A LOT better...they should cancel what ever summer league from that previous video. Cadeau's strengths are highlighted even more so in the this video. Most important are his patience, pace and setup. Looks to have a good bball IQ which our guards lack on many occasions still. And dude is explosive! Not just athletic but skilled.

I see a lot of Ty Lawson in this kid.

He is announcing at halftime of Simeon Wilchers game, during the Jordan Holiday Classic. The stars are aligned, am I right?

Not quite sure where you get that. Ty was raw speed and power who had to be reined in from his tendency to play out of control. Cadeaus exudes conto;l.
I see a mix of players. He is built to absorb contact like Berry (though obviously not as muscular yet.) He's got a shifty dribble to create separation like Cole Anthony. He passes a lot like Kendall.

He needs a quicker release on his 3pt shot, but that can come with work over time.

If this kid is truly 1 and done, I wouldn't put all my eggs in a short basket.

All those are fair.

I think Caleb is definitely gone after this year. I think RJ and Mondo come back. Mondo seems to really enjoy the college experience and is a smart guy (Kenan-Flagler kid) and doing really well with NIL.

I have no clue how likely a reclass is by Cadeau-and that is a big piece of the puzzle. If we lose Mondo, then we will need a portal big likely.

As things stand right now, I see us starting RJ, Trimble, Wilcher, Jalen, and Mondo next year.

Puff, Nickel, Styles, Dunn, High getting time in the second unit.

McCoy (who could graduate and move on) and Shaver getting scraps

I wouldnt be surprised to see one or two guys enter the portal from that second unit.

This really assumes Jalen returns to form healthy. But I see Wilcher as being good enough to supplant a standard SF and him and seth being big enough to be ok on defense.

I'd be surprised if Jalen plays much 4. In today's game you have to do a lot of perimeter defending as a 4. Asking a guy coming off multiple knee surgeries to cut and chase all around the perimeter is a recipe for disaster. He's around 6'10" with a 7'3" wingspan. He can be a better defensive player simply by being in the paint and altering shots with his length.

Also, while it's limited sample size, he has played exclusively at Center this season. Even when he played with Nance, Nance was the 4.

We got a good one folks! Very impressive short announcement and humble family! That kid may set the UNC record for assists in one year the way he was talking.

My cousin said that Elliot’s Family was absolutely blown away by the Family atmosphere in Chapel Hill. They genuinely saw the Family connection albeit with the coaching staff being former Tar Heels. UNC was favored for a very long time. I believe 75 also had alluded to that as well. The first true PG we have gotten since Joel Berry (one of my all time favorites). Other major recruits are going to want to play with a pass first elite PG. Elliot and his Family are very aware of the steep learning curve going from High School to College especially with reclassifying. They are not trying to rush his career along without considering all possibilities. GDTBATH!!!

Ian Jacksons OV is coming up next week I believe? He also wants to make a decision soon. How do we look with him? Be cool to get our PG,SG and SF squared away for 2024
He is also seriously considering a reclass to 2023. With Wilcher on board, Cadeau flirting with a 2023 reclass, and UNC having no clarity right now about who might leave early, I think Jackson goes elsewhere. In fact I have a sneaking suspicion that Rob Dillingham is going to back out on his UK commit and turn pro, and UK will bring Jackson in 2023 to fill the void.

First things first. Let's see if Jackson follows through on his Official Visit after Cadeau's commit.

Another interesting note. In his interview with 247, Cadeau said he be "contributing as a starter as a Freshman". Wonder if Hubert told him he would start no matter what? In 2024 that would make sense, if he reclassifies to 2023, with Trimble on the roster, that means he gets the nod over Wilcher

Well... he'll be the best PG on the roster, whenever he comes..

I was told that the entire family just fell in love with Hubert, the players, the campus, and Chapel Hill in general during the OV, and the father said it was going to take a minor miracle for Elliot to play for anyone else...., and true to his words, Elliot never wavered in his desire to play at UNC.

Let's hope Hubert learned the lesson that Joel was one of those special PGs who should've started every game he played here, as should Cadeau.
