Give Coach Williams the game ball for this one

People like to constantly beat him down and tell him how to coach but today he shut up a bunch of his distractions by some great moves. I think everyone here expected Pinson to be covering Monk after that 47 back in December but Pinson started on Fox and limited him to just 12 which is a far cry from the 39 he put on UCLA Friday night.

Down late in the second half he put his team into a zone and it seemed to totally confuse the Kentucky offense. Humphries only got one more shot and he missed it.

Thirdly at the last TV timeout he put a scorer in in the form of Maye for the senior Hicks.

He also called a crucial time out when Kentucky went up by 4 late which stopped the Cats momentum.

Made essentially all the correct moves down the stretch. And for all who were screaming for a time out at the end, well... again I say all the correct moves.

Just for the record. Luke was never a walk-on. Remember? He was a "wasted scholarship". I don't want to jinx anything, but if he never scores another point for them he's earned his 4 years of scholly in my opinion.

Wouldn't trade Roy for anyone and those regular season losses that people attribute to not calling a TO....you can combine all of those and it wouldn't equate to 1/100th of how much more important a victory like this was. Our guys are always ready to play even after a made basket, we don't expect the TO and so we don't freeze. That strategy paid huge dividends.

Guts to have Luke in at the end with Hicks and Bradley on the bench. But Roy was thinking they would have to hits some 3's (which they did) and the size inside would not be that much or a factor. Luke as a shooter was more valuable at that time despite what conventional wisdom would dictate.

Didn't hear his post game comments but both teams said the right things. i was kind of hoping your guys would run their mouth like our previous opponents had to inspire us. nope.
a scholarship opened up before he enrolled.
he was recruited as a walk on for one year, with the ship offered his last 3 years.
luke was rated as a 3* player.

i've never complained about roy calling a time out to set up a game winning play. i trust his judgement.
i've complained about him not calling time outs to try and stop momentum.
