Should note that the Canes and the Hoos only have 2 conference losses and are 2-2 in the conference. And the Canes now have a "W" over one of the top 3, and have yet to play Pitt and Carolina, so in consideration of the obvious parity in the division, again, they are not out of it yet, either. UVA has losses to both Carolina and Pitt, but still has to play dook and Miami.
The simple answer for Carolina is just win all 4, and there will be no question or need for a "tie-breaker". dook also could do the same thing by winning out, thereby holding the "tie breaker" over Carolina and Pitt, since their single conf loss to date is to a team which already has 2 conf losses. Any of the other 3 would need help from another team (or teams) to claim the division championship, even if they win out.
But clearly, the remaining 3 games after Saturday pretty much become a matter of pride (and "hope" for a competitor to lose to someone else) vs end of season championship competition for the loser of Saturday's game in Kenan - this, realistically, is the MOST IMPORTANT "Battle of the Blues" in 65 years (post Justice Era), and maybe before. There have been big games, where one team HAD to win to become a champion - but I don't recall any where both teams, realistically, were playing to put themselves in position to do so. Perhaps it's because for most of those years, this has been the traditional end of season game, by which time either (or both) had been eliminated from championship potential. But whatever - SATURDAY is a critical game for both teams. We need to fill Kenan with Tar Heel fans!!!
GO HEELS!!!
