Hey Cool

In all seriousness, what do you play? So I can get my nerd on.
This is going to get pretty long.

For PC, I'm addicted to Rocket League right now. I don't know what it is about it, but I can't keep away from it. It's quite possibly the most addicting game I've ever played. It's one of those that you can't take too seriously and is just straight up fun. I like those survival games like Rust and Day-Z too. I used to play CS:GO, but I got tired of it. I use it to stream my Xbox when I don't feel like playing in my living room too. There are others, but I don't feel like naming every single one of them.

My Xbox is my real baby though. Halo, Call of Duty, Gears of War, and pretty much everything is on my Xbox. Rocket League is on there too so I can't play with my friends who don't have PC's. Again, there are a lot more, but I don't feel like going through everything. That's where I still spend the majority of my time.

I have a PS4, but I don't really play it too much. I got it mainly for MLB The Show, so I'll be on it more when 17 comes out in a couple of months. The Uncharted series is really cool though. The PS4 is my first PlayStation console, so I'm not quite as attached to it as my Xbox or PC.

I love the Uncharted series. Lots of fun. Have you ever checked out any of the Assassin's Creed games? I used to be in to Halo, CoD, and shooters, but I kinda got tired of them. It got to the point where I'd only fire up CoD to play Zombies.

As a kid, I played a game called SOCOM II: U.S. Navy Seals on PS2, and it was hands-down the best online shooter I've ever played. Ever since then, it's ruined online shooters for me. None of them match the strategy / gameplay that SOCOM had.

For PC, I have no clue what Rocket League is. Do you ever play any RTS games like Star Craft, the original War Crafts before it became an MMORPG, or my favorite... Age of Empires II?

Rocket League is soccer with cars...just do it.

Assasins Creed is good, but it's way overdone. They had way too many games so fast, and it ended up being overkill. COD is the same way, but a bunch of my friends play it, so that's what kept me coming back.

RPG's are really good, but they take so much time and dedication. If I was still in school, I'd play them more, but not now.

I envy you. I love my family, but you have no idea how often I just want to...sit....and do nothing but play video games. Enjoy this while it lasts, man.
So just do it. You're the man in the household, by God! ;)

I said RTS (real-time strategy) games, not RPGs. If you haven't tried one, you need to do so.

Also, I've been a sucker for simulation games ever since I was a kid. Obviously, there's the Sims. But I've always loved games like Sim City, Roller Coaster Tycoon, that kind of stuff. I used to LOVE Roller Coaster Tycoon.

For anyone who cares, there's a game client called Steam that you can download, and it has a huge inventory of old PC games (and new ones) that you can purchase. I had lost my copy of Roller Coaster Tycoon, so I went back and bought a digital copy of that, as well as Sim City 3000, Age of Empires II (my current obsession), and other games.

My kids are starting to get old enough to get into video games, so hopefully I can play some by "teaching" them. They've got the tablet games down, so I'm going to move them up to some Mario on the original NES if I can ever find the time.

We must be on the same trajectory. Just in the last few months, our 6 year old has gotten really into Mario 3D World on the Wii. It's a far cry from my days of playing Madden for hours on end, but we're at least heading in the right direction!

Mine are 6 and 4. It's going to be tough for me to teach them though, because I'm super competitive. It will be hard for me to not try to beat them as bad as I possibly can.

We have a Wii from like 5 years ago and only a handful of games. All I've ever played on that thing is Mario Cart and Wii Sports Bowling. I'm pretty decent at both. I can beat my 5 year old but my 10 year old usually kicks my ass.

I envy the solitude as well sometimes but I doubt I'd use my free time to play video games. New video games are overstimulating to me. They're like the menu at a mexican restaurant - just too much. I tried playing Super Smash Bros with my kids and I swear I couldn't keep up with all the bombs exploding and lightning bolts and shit. I didn't know who was what. At one point I celebrated because I thought I had knocked one of my sons out only to find out it was me that just got smashed. I know you guys like to rib me for being the "get off my lawn" guy and I like to play along. But in all seriousness, when it comes to video games, I really am old school. Give me the simplicity of Kid Icarus, RC Pro-am and Little League Baseball.

Same here...mine are 6 and 4 as well. Both are pretty good at various tablet games, but getting them into the console games has just kicked in over the last few months. Our 6 year old is really competitive though...she has already found the tutorial videos on the iPad and is watching people beat these levels and trying to emulate them. It won't be long :)

Super Smash Bros is amazing. I've had some of the most fun I've ever had gaming playing that. The GameCube version is the best one, not a big fan of the Wii ones.

I get this. I personally still would migrate to games I used to play, like Madden or some of the other basketball games. I don't think I would ever get into something like Halo where you have the headsets and people conversing and playing together over the internet. That's not something I could ever see myself getting into.

I have a PS4 that I haven't played much in awhile. I like sports games like Fifa and NHL, but haven't been on the Madden bandwagon in years. I also like the first person shooters like Battlefield and the various versions of that. One of my favorite types of games are the Elder Scrolls series and similar games. I never played Elder Scrolls Online, but I think I would have enjoyed it. Those are the types of games that you can waste an entire day playing - after a few hours of Fifa/NHL or Battlefield I'm pretty tapped out.

I have a nerdy friend who's really friggin cute (borerline sexy) who loves the Elder Scrolls games. I've never played them. The new Battlefield I is friggin sick. Plus I think it's cool they went with World War I, since in America, that war doesn't even exist.... no movies about it and you never learn about it in school.

FIFA games are always the shit. I waste hours and hours doing manager modes on there. I agree about Madden. They've lost their fun. I haven't bought a Madden game since like 2009. I'm still in mourning that they quit making NCAA Football.
