I had two QT hot dogs for lunch today

does anyone over 30 eat that shit anymore?

what about fast food in general?...not chick, jersey mikes, or moes, but that other garbage?

like cook-out?...who eats there?
Let me think about this...

McDonald's - not really. I can pick up a Sausage McMuffin for breakfast once in a blue moon. If I do go there, it's for the fries. Their tea is good too. It's been a good long whIle since I've eaten there.

Burger King - lol I really can't remember the last time I went in there.

Wendy's - Oh hell yeah. Their burgers are right up there with Five Guys, IMO. I think they're that good.

Cookout - Not often. I did recently, but that's because I was completely starving after taking a late lunch with no breakfast. If you want to go on a 3000 calorie binge, then Cookout is the place.

Subway - Sucks

Jack in the Box - No

Hardee's - Only breakfast, but one is not conveniently near me, so I never go there. Haven't eaten a burger there in ages.

Pizza Hut/Papa John's/Domino's - If they have a deal going, I'll bite. If I want pizza, I usually just call in to one of the local places.

Bojangles - You damn right.

Pretty sure I forgot some, but there you go.

@UNC71-00 tell me the fascination with cook-out?

i know you said rarely, but what is it about that place that people like?...my wife's paralegal gets something called a ranch wrap three times a week.

Never eat hot dogs.

All you guys saying don't eat hot dogs are just as bad as the DD posters. I hope you all step on a rusty nail. You're dead to me now.

Well the hot dogs you get in the grocery store are sooooo unhealthy. Making your own sausage and then making hot dogs from that is a better way to go. I love chicken sausage that way.

One of the healthiest hot dogs you can buy . . available at Target.

I think it is the cajun fries and milkshakes. I dunno though- I have only had the cheeseburger and tenders.

who here gets a regular physical?...should we start poasting our numbers each time?
Lol I'm sure I've probably come across as being 500 pounds, but I assure you I'm not close. I'm a cool 165. We get annual health screens at work, and they come back perfectly healthy. Blood pressure at 110/70, blood sugar in the 70s, low cholesterol...all good. I get a good three miles a day on my treadmill, so I'm sure that helps a good bit.

That and you are under 30

Not under, not over. Right at 30, but probably doesn't make much of a difference. Maybe so, I don't know.
It's more about the chemicals that are in some of those things. My brother has always been thin but he is the most unhealthy human being in the world. In his 20's he lived on Mountain Dew, hot dogs and twinkies and by the age of 35 he was already taking meds for clogged arteries and has a debilitating disease now at age 41. He got plenty of exercise too. Moderation is key.

Don't forget genetics tho

@coolwaterunc these guys just don't get us and our diet. Also, you left off Firehouse and Jersey Mikes on your list of fast food places (if the latter can be classified as fast food).

Also, for me, I enjoy the occasional Zaxbys for sureeee
gteeitup wasn't including Jersey Mike's, so I assumed the same would apply for Firehouse.

I like Zaxby's but don't go there often. They tend to overcook and dry out their chicken (maybe it's just the one here), but Zax sauce is to die for. I could probably get about a gallon of the stuff and just chug it. Best sauce ever made.

besides the obvious cost reasons, why wouldn't more sub places dump the nitrate option and go with healthier cuts?...they could charge an extra .30 and never see a decline.

imo, the sub sandwich is greatest option out there and with many combinations.

@gteeitup, and to a lesser extent, @heelmanwilm, sound like the biggest hipsters / hippies in the world when they talk about food.

Guilty. My wife is a ful blown organic non gmo free range non processed hippie foodie. If i get her drunk she'll eat cookout at 3 am. But that usually means i wont get lucky. And yes i do occasionally point out the hypocrisy of eating healthy but drinking alcohol daily.

Okay good I'm glad it was you I was thinking of. I thought it was but couldn't remember. But yeah, you and gtee talk about shit I have never ever heard of (like gmo) when it comes to food.

Meanwhile, my daily lunch update: An Italian sub on white bread from this mom and pop Hoboken-style bagel and sandwich place near my work. I don't know what exactly they do but their Italian sub is delicious (no onions of course). They've got type of cranberry sauce that softens the bread up and adds excellent flavor.

Two things come to mind. One, you can get a Cook Out Tray which is a main item (burger/sandwich/wrap), two sides, and a ginormous drink for $4.99.

The other is that they char grill their burgers and chicken. IMO grilled burgers >>> fried burgers every day of the week. I actually get the grilled chicken, which has great flavor from the grill. It's relatively healthy before I ruin it with sides like corndogs and fries.

Cookout's grilled chicken sandwich cajun style is amazing.

This is the only McDonald's that I ever frequent. They hand patty their burgers and their barbeque slaw is to die for. It's called that because it's the family's name. Located here in Gaston County, they recently celebrated 50 years in business.

I need to check that place out. Places like that are always the best.

If you're ever in the Cleveland, N.C. area check out Keaton's BBQ. The BBQ is just so so but they make the best fried chicken in the world.

I cashed in a coupon for a free chk/egg/cheese bagel at chik fil a and it was damn good. Much better then their biscuits which are way too sweet.

I haven't tried that, so I may give it a shot. I've just never been a fan of Chick-fil-A breakfast. Like you said, their biscuits are sweet, and I find them to be dry and doughy. People rave about the chicken minis, but I don't get their appeal. They're just chicken nuggets inside more dry bread. I'd rather them just give me chicken nuggets than do that.

I think gas station food is awesome. When we used to party hard in Nashville there was one in particular we would stop at on the way back to Clarksville that always had all sorts of food even at 3 in the morning. Dodge store here is my favorite.
