Really hurts this team. He would be the first big off the bench, if not a starter. High energy and hustle, he would have really helped on the boards. BTW...why did he leave and where is he now?? Wishful thinking but I thought I read somewhere that he could come back to the team

Anyone know what happened and is his return just idle speculation??

I don’t think he’s better than JWash, Withers, or Lubin tbh. I did like his energy though.

Unsure of his future plans.

Supposedly he got caught cheating and was kicked off campus. The option is there for him to return, but I've heard it's unlikely to happen. All we can do is wait and see.

I don't think he'd be a starter or the first big off the bench. He was an absolute foul machine last year. I doubt he'd be ahead of Washington, Withers, or Lubin. But if his 3pt shot from summer games actually translated to real games, he'd be helping us more than Cade Tyson currently is.

Thou he did impress with his improvement in the off season, I would not say High would have come off the bench before Lubin. I do think he would have got at least near double digit minutes if not well in to double digits.

Last I heard, the plan was for him to come back and it looks as if that could be next season if he elects to come back. Time has a funny way of changing things like that so this is a wait and see situation. As for what happened, all I have heard is maybe it is not a great idea to use AI to write your final papers for grade. Doing so via the honor code suspends the person from school, High was suspended from the school, not the team. Now that is not to be taken as quoted fact, just whispers I hear.

I think he certainly could help the team but I'm more hopeful that he sticks it out. He seemed to be trending in the right direction and his energy/hustle/work ethic would be a great example to the other bigs. I hope he finds his way and decides to take the hard road to redemption at UNC!

Be strong, Family!

You used the word " cheat" here. You further state they Z was " kicked off campus". I will say that is a strongly worded allegation. Therefore, please give proper credit to your source here. Thank you...

He stated that this was not "quoted fact" but just "whispers". If it was fact, then yes a source would be needed. Otherwise, it is just a rumor.

Responsible Family members shouldn't spread unsubstantiated rumors that could be used to besmirch the U and one of our players! But I did use the word, "responsible"

I think that it is legit to discuss what happened that led to the kid being dismissed from UNC (from the school itself, not the team). I think it is better to discuss the truth and considering there is no official UNC report nor is one coming that explains this, a lot of worse things could be assumed.I would MUCH prefer folks know that it was a academic violation of some sort that was known about for most of the off season than to think it may have been something much worse, for example a JameOn Curry like situation or a PJ level of NCAA violation (thou rules now days would consider what PJ and LMac did as NIL and perfectly fine).

I just really like truth and I like responsibility and no matter where High ends up I hope he has learned from this and goes on to take his opportunities in life more seriously. As in the Christian faith, admit your sins, ask for forgiveness from the Savior, and do things per his teachings moving forward. I do hope High comes back to UNC, we all make mistakes, we deserve forgiveness if we sincerely ask for it and do not repeat the action but there still may be a penalty you have to pay.

To be clear, I was referring to a different poster and they were doubling down and going way too far! I couldn't respond directly because I would have to take them off ignore, but peeps' responses indicated where they were going. I may be a bit sensitive at this juncture since peeps tend to blow these things way out of proportion a la the supposed academic scandal we endured that was largely smoke.

I really hope the young man learns and grows from this experience and no matter where he goes, I pray he is ultimately successful! UNC does NOT turn on Family and this is what has earned my loyalty!

All good, I have no idea what that nut job chappel had to say nor do I care, he is a troll and nothing more.

Seems he just played a bit out of control more often than not but the physical metrics were there but not necessarily the mental .. maybe both on and off the court. jmo

Does anyone know if he is out of school., transferred...just what he is up to. Coach Smith used to say the best part about being a freshman is that they become sophomores. My gut tells me that Z would show a lot of improvement this year.

That’s the “official” reason. There’s something much worse out there on Reddit, forums, and players in NC that corroborate the latter. It doesn’t take much effort to find it.

Those Reddit rumors are lies. If they were true, there would be criminal charges filed and he would have been permanently banned from campus. Show me ANYTHING that corroborates the latter.

Those who are actually on campus can usually corroborate that…? What? I bet you think Jalek Felton’s a saint that just had “personal issues” too, huh?

You can’t tell me what’s a lie and what isn’t because nothing has been officially said by the University; and the truth is, if it is that bad, you never will hear anything from them.

What Jalek Felton did has absolutely nothing to do with Zayden High. Felton was permanently banned from the University for his actions.

Zayden High has not been charged with any crime. Zayden High recieved a one semester suspension from the UNC honor court.

You have offered absolutely nothing to corroborate the unfounded rumor you are trying to spread. When confronted with simple truths like the fact Zayden hasn't been charged with a crime and has not been permanently banned from campus, your only response is "bet you think Jalek Felton’s a saint that just had “personal issues” too, huh?"

Looks like you lost that bet. Because I'm completely aware of exactly what Felton did to get himself banned from campus.

What rumor is being spread exactly?

Wasted time much?

What possible benefit can come from pursuing this anyway??

Let the youngster live through whatever his mistake was and then (hopefully) take advantage of a second opportunity to live his basketball life! I hope it is at UNC but more importantly, I pray that Big Z gets the chance to experience his dreams at UNC or where ever he and his family decide! Who among us actually grew up without making any significant mistakes???

Good Luck, Family!
