Ian Jackson to Announce Tomorrow per Sources

You are 100% wrong about that. He is absolutely a priority for Hubert. He was the first 2024 recruit to receive a UNC offer. He's the only PF who has even received a scholarship offer in the class of 2024. Hubert has been at his school and at his AAU games every single recruiting period the NCAA allows. Thanks to his mom being a UNC women's bball player, and growing up nearby, he's been on campus too many times to count, including unofficial visits since his offer.

Brown is a college center. Washington is a college center. High is looking more and more like a college center. In fact the moment Brown committee, one of the best recruiting analysts in the business tweeted out that Stevenson and Brown are perfect compliments for each other as a face-up 4 and a traditional low post 5. These guys aren't in Stevenson's way. They are guarantees he will never have to use his skinny 6'11" frame to guard opposing centers.

He's taken an official visit to Georgetown, an unofficial to UVA, and has an official to Mizzou next week. He still has 3 more junior year OVs to use if he wants.

What schools are recruiting him harder than UNC? Most of the big time programs aren't even sending head coaches to his games bc they feel he's a UNC legacy who will eventually pick UNC.

So I would love to hear how you convinced yourself that "he feels he is not a priority for us." Psychic powers? Using the Force? How exactly did you convince yourself you know how a teenager you have no relationship with "feels" about something?
You are one funny dude, so how does this work again, you are the ONLY poster that is allowed to have an opinion, any opinion that does not walk lock step with yours is not worthy? LOL, as I said, you one funny dude. So Washington is a college center, did the same guy tell you that that told you Nickel was a guard? Is that the same guy that told you Jack was committing to Ky? Maybe you should not listen to that guy so much? One of these days maybe you will be able to realize that some folks here just like to share their opinions and discuss and that there is no requirement for a jerk (yeah, that shoe fits ya) to add his irritating comments.

Now, back to discussion, if you can handle discussion, the more I see Washington play the more I see him as a stretch. Of course UNCs and 4s and 5s do exchange a lot so there is no need to get in to the weeds about who will be and who will not. As I have shared many times, Brown is a center, his shot is solid mid range and in, don't know that I want him stepping out much more than that, I agree High seems to be developing more toward the 5 spot and yet any of the 3, including Jalen can play the 5 when needed.

On Stevenson, I actually do and have expected him to at some point to commit to UNC, I have said that several times but it is not as certain now as it has been. Believe what you want, Stevenson does not feel like we have him as a priority and he feels that way because we are NOT treating him as a priority. WE are still recruiting him but priority is how Cadeau was recruited, was how Jack was recruited.

My opinion is that I would prefer to pass on the kid, I do not see him as 5 star, many do not agree, that is there opinion, I express mine. I would prefer we not have the great talent we have in that back court and have it matched with 2 freshmen, a soph, and by then a Jr that has little bulk. I prefer to get a physically developed big man that is on the cusp of the NBA wanting him but comes back to the college game to improve his draft status. With the guards we will have any big man would love to join that mix and go hunt for a natty. Now my expressing that opinion, I was not negative toward anyone, not to YOU, not to any other poster and not toward any kid we are recruiting. I am not as sold on Stevenson as many of the experts are, I am not as sold on him now as I was after his freshman season, others hold a different opinion, fine, I am expressing mine and my opinion is neither right nor wrong, nor is anyone elses.

I am not the one to fulfil your love needs so what you would love is none of my concern nor will it ever be.

Washington is a stretch 5. He can not effectively defend any position in modern college basketball except the 5.

You have absolutely no idea how Jarin Stevenson feels. So stop trying to convince people you know how he feels. You don't know him or his family. And you clearly have no idea how frequently Jarin talks with coach Davis.

We are stockpiling some serious talent and they are perfectly suited to play together! Brilliant recruiting and team building following the Roy template. Hubs is mixing the glue guys with the super skilled 5*!

GDTBATH!
Yeah, but TP, does it not feel like we are getting to the place where we are going to be losing some guys to transfer that we really do not want to lose? Last season, yeah, we had a couple guys I didn't shed a tear for when they went away but that was because they really just didn't work to the standard of what we expect from UNC players. I honestly don't see that on this team, I want them all to stay.

Now, if you want to see me go crazy ecstatic over a 2024 recruit, let me find out we have a shot at Budinga, now that kid is a game changer! What was it I heard yesterday, Budinga missed a shot in a game and that miss ended his string of 50 consecutive shots made in games?

I feel that Washington is a College 5 right now and probably next season, but he can be used at the 4 at times like he was Saturday vs Louisville.
The Cardinals did not have a big time athletic driver that would cause Jalen problems playing the 4.
So playing the 5, I think Jalen will play that position differently than hiw Mando does. I think Jalen as a 5 will look more like Huntter Dickinson and Frank Kaminski pick and pop, and also posting with good kickout game.

Just what constitutes "priority recruiting" to you Dave? I happen to be close enough to this recruitment to know that Stevenson is being recruited just like his parents and himself want him to be. He has been encouraged to take visits to make sure what program fits him best. Unless he is convinced otherwise by another coach/program, he will be a Tar Heel. It's disingenuous to make blanket statements that he is not a "priority recruit" when, in fact, he has had a scholarship offer since he was a sophomore in high school. You can count on 1 hand how many have had that privilege, and you say he is not a priority recruit? Not a good look my friend.

Well, the list above has 16 names, there are zero 16 player rosters suited to PLAY well together. Around half will have to leave either pro or transfer. Just not enough minutes, they almost have to play for a spot or move on elsewhere. Not many who see theirself in a straight up practice body role in that group.

He may not have any recourse, unless he goes overseas.
Doubt he goes overseas when he can make 10 times the money as a financial advisor after graduating UNC. Hubert has told him that unless he can develop an outside shot he has no chance to make the NBA. Thus, the writing is on the wall.

I've seen Budinga a bit, the buzz seems to be G League for him. The kids upside us HUGE !!!!

Washington is still getting physically and maybe even more mentally back from the multiple knee issues/surgeries. After his first time under the knife, he came back, and played almost all perimeter for Mean Streets. Did great, but was certainly different, did not have the explosion. Shot many more 3's.

After consistent leg issues your subconscious kinda has doubts. Don't know, but I hope he regains his full confidence in the legs, I think he has more lateral ability then he shows now, at least he used to. He seems to be tenative with those type actions for the moment at least.

I do know that he has not given up on his hopes of being back to being capable of playing a stretch 4 along with the stretch 5 role.

Agree, I think maybe by Jan next year he could be to the point where he is getting almost equal time at the 4. That is IF Bacot is still here.

My point is if he wants to continue to play basketball. Heck,I agree with being a financial advisor after graduating and not going overseas.

Jarin Stevenson is hugely underrated.
I watched him before he came to Northwood, so I noticed him longer than most and knew early on that he was a 5-star potential player.
Instead of choosing a school with high-level peers and media attention like most star players, he chose to learn and develop from his parents. (His father is a Best shooter who has been active in Europe for 13 years and has ended his career as a legendary player in Korea with 8 years of active play in Korea.)
If he had continued to play for Northwood instead of the fledgling school and with Powell, or, as I said before, had he transferred to a school that had the media attention, he would have gotten more attention and good reviews.
