You know me arch, I think rankings are wonderful starting points but they by no means tell the whole story. No one screamed, oh no, UNC just got Brice Johnson when he committed to us, none of our rivals feared our getting Marcus, any laughed when we got Meeks, they pretty much all laughed at our total bust of a recruiting class of Kenny and Luke. Pinson couldn't shoot, Joel was to small, Nate was a joke, Hicks was over ranked, and Justin was the only kid that was a real player. Tony had potential but he was a lot like Jeter who they loved before they saw he couldn't play.
I like to look at the rankings as a starting spot but past that I want to see the kid play, how he moves, does he attack or play soft, does he have the frame to fill out if he is a big man, is he nimble or slow feet, does he play over the rim, ect.
I do think all 3 of our frosh bigs can be big time in time, all 3 have bodies that can play right away rather than having to lose weight or gain it. ALL 3 would benefit from adding bulk and strength in future off seasons but all are in that 235-245 range now. I have no doubt that had we not had Meeks and Hicks Tony would have shown us more just by the additional PT he would have got, PT that our incoming frosh bigs will have the added advantage of. So I am expecting more from them just because they will have more opportunity, not because they are more talented than a kid like Tony was/is. I do think they can fit in to our area of need and I think we got good attitudes with them.
As I have as well said several times before, I am just as happy with Huffman and Brooks as I would be with any 4star ranked big man out there for this class and I would not feel that way if all I considered was where they were ranked and nothing more.
