In my opinion Vince Carter was the best player that I ever seen play at UNC.

Fun to watch. Jamison in his own class was a bigger beast, but no doubt Vince was an exciting player.

Vince really wasn't a "beast" until his junior year. He struggled on defense and with consistency (and effort) early on. When he went into beastmode, he was indeed a sight to behold. But as the poaster above stated, Jamison was a much better player at Carolina. There is no question about that.

The wording of the thread title is curious. Because Jordan was the best player to have ever played at Carolina. I think we can all agree on that. But he wasn't the best Carolina player. Make sense? I mean, we did not get to witness Jordan at his pinnacle at Carolina. I think you can make the argument that Jordan's career at Carolina isn't in the top 3 best Carolina careers - Ford, Hansbrough, Rosenbluth, Worthy, Jamison, would all be in the discussion.

So thinking in those terms, for me, the best Carolina career award goes to 50.

Tyler H was the best player I've seen in chapel hill. I'm 31, and from my lifetime that was the one that I really would have loved at UK. Of course, I thought he and Wright were a lock for UK, thanks Tubby!:)

Vince was a beast. He was great for UNC recruiting when he was dominating in the league.

Jamison was the best in my book. What he did for 3 years was special. Another year and he would have owned many records. Psycho T is like 1a for me. So many great players to choose from. Loved Vince too as he was a espn top ten moment waiting to happen. Its a Shame they didn't win a title with that squad.

James Worthy was true best player I saw. Others had better stats and such. But worthy was on another level

Love VC as a personal favorite, but hard to argue he was the "best" when it is difficult to say he was the best player during his time there.

I still watch VC's top 10 college dunks and get excited.

I was fortunate to see Charlie Scott score 40 in the 1969 ACC tourney final , and to see Phil Ford go for 34 against Duke in his last game at Carmichael. Tough to beat those two.

I never saw any player while in college that could do more of what he wanted to do than James Worthy. He did what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it. Even the great Ralph Sampson couldn't stop him. If I had to pick 1 since the late 60's it would be Worthy.

I never thought I would have to say this but "I don't want to sound like the old guy here" Phil Ford and Jordan were thebest I've seen Jamison close second..

Count me in for worthy. We had never had a player of that caliber before him. He was truly the first hybrid 3-4-5 player. Great shot, great post moves, leaper, awesome defender and at the time great handles for a big guy.

Vince REALLY struggled his Freshman year. Still remember Dean taking him out of games and Vince getting pissed. Even pointing at himself and saying, "Why Me!?" Were even rumors about him transferring after his first year. He started coming into his own in the second half of his Soph season and was a beast by his Junior year. Jamison was great from day one. Still remember his epic tip-in against Maryland.

Makes me think what would have happened if Sheed and Stackhouse stuck around. This would have been the best team that wasn't.

1996/1997 North Carolina Tar Heels

PG: Jeff McInnis
SG: Vince Carter
SF: Antawn Jamison
PF: Jerry Stackhouse
C: Rasheed Wallace

Ed Cota, Shammond Williams, Ademola Okulaja and Serge Zwikker off the bench.

Dean in his last year Coaching

SCARY!!!

Easily the best hypothetical team that could've happened, but for early entries, in UNC history, right? Other than maybe if Felton, McCants, May and Marvin all stayed another year to play with freshman Hansbrough and co?

jordan may not have been what he was in the pros but he was really really good. the rock the cradle dunk against maryland, the steal and dunk against maryland, heck he was national player of the year his junior year. how many of those guys can claim that award---hansbough maybe

Phil ford and hansbourgh for me. They both dominated the game night in night out and made everyone around them elevate their game
