Is it too early to discuss Summer vacation (or other) plans?

Dude, you've been way too serious the past couple of days. It's Friday. Lighten up a little.

Has your freeloader shown up yet for the concert @Raising Heel ? I saw Tedeschi-Trucks in Raleigh last year. One of the best concerts I've ever attended. It was especially good when they jammed with the North Mississippi Allstars and Los Lobos. Report back please after it's over.
He has not shown up, nor is he going to, because he has fundamental difficulties understanding how calendars work and/or no respect for the space/time continuum as evidenced by his attempt to attend a concert in Charlotte at the same time he is supposed to be picking up his wife and daughter from the airport. Seeing as how I threw my back out yesterday -- quite the eye-opening first time experience to let you know you're decrepit, by the way -- I won't be attending the concert either. I just hope to feel well enough to attend the other concert I bought tickets for on Tuesday.

and other than provision, food ain't that good here.

can't beat the beach, though...no worries about crowds and the waves have been decent...had to overnight a contract so we went to the post office/vacation rental office and it turns out the owner/broker went to the same elementary school in columbia as my kids go to, sixty five years ago.

I'm sorry, I know many will take offense to this because if you're an OBX kind of guy, you're a diehard OBX guy. But I do not like the Outer Banks for my beach experience. The sand is loose instead of the flat hard sand on the SC beaches. It's harder to walk on and you can't really play any games at all on it. The water is far too rough. When I'm on vacation, I don't like worrying about drowning. The water looks prettier at OBX than at SC beaches and is usually a cooler and more pleasant temperature. But those riptides are no joke. And OBX in general has kind of a grimy feel to me. All the buildings and structures look beaten down and ratty. And that main thoroughfare is too damn busy and irritating.

Y'all might recall several months back I mentioned a potential trip out west for the family. Well, it didn't happen. I went solo 3-4 weeks ago and had a nice time in San Diego but the big trip didn't happen. It's a good thing too. We had decided that we just didn't really have the funds to make it happen this year and then wouldn't you know it...my AC/furnace went out 2 days before I left. So if we had all planned to go and then I had to drop $7000 on a new unit, I would have been super pissed. Odd how things work out like that sometimes. But I thoroughly enjoyed San Diego. Didn't get to see a ton of it but I liked what I saw. La Jolla and the Padres game I took in while there were the high points. The low points were that everything is so ridiculously expensive. A burger, fries and two craft beers, plus tip = $40.

The family beach trip will happen in September at Folly Beach, SC. I like pulling my kids out of school after they've been back for about a month. It's something for them to look forward to. Plus, going to beach out of season is the way to roll.
Other than that, we've taken weekend float trips and spent time at our spot on the river in Eagle Rock, VA.

Oh yeah, we're going to The Greenbrier for a couple days in mid August. The Patriots and Texans are holding a portion of their training camps there and I got me and the boys tickets to their practices. My boys don't know about it yet but they're going to flip their wigs. My wife will enjoy the spa while we're standing out in 100 degree heat trying to get a pic with Tom Brady.

I was hoping for more than 2 sentences. ;) Hopefully you're too busy at the store for a longer response.
We spent 3 weeks in Romania, Serbia, and Bulgaria. Romania and Bulgaria were part of the Warsaw Pact and Serbia was part of old Yugoslavia which was also part of the Warsaw Pact. All three countries have castles and castles and more castles. It would be a lot easier if anybody has a question to post it instead of me posting a long report that 99% of you don't want to read. .
