Y'all might recall several months back I mentioned a potential trip out west for the family. Well, it didn't happen. I went solo 3-4 weeks ago and had a nice time in San Diego but the big trip didn't happen. It's a good thing too. We had decided that we just didn't really have the funds to make it happen this year and then wouldn't you know it...my AC/furnace went out 2 days before I left. So if we had all planned to go and then I had to drop $7000 on a new unit, I would have been super pissed. Odd how things work out like that sometimes. But I thoroughly enjoyed San Diego. Didn't get to see a ton of it but I liked what I saw. La Jolla and the Padres game I took in while there were the high points. The low points were that everything is so ridiculously expensive. A burger, fries and two craft beers, plus tip = $40.
The family beach trip will happen in September at Folly Beach, SC. I like pulling my kids out of school after they've been back for about a month. It's something for them to look forward to. Plus, going to beach out of season is the way to roll.
Other than that, we've taken weekend float trips and spent time at our spot on the river in Eagle Rock, VA.
Oh yeah, we're going to The Greenbrier for a couple days in mid August. The Patriots and Texans are holding a portion of their training camps there and I got me and the boys tickets to their practices. My boys don't know about it yet but they're going to flip their wigs. My wife will enjoy the spa while we're standing out in 100 degree heat trying to get a pic with Tom Brady.
