He was a top 3 lottery pick coming out of high school and he has done nothing but solidify that while doing his mandatory 2 semester sentence at d00k. If I'm his parents, I shut him down. But I doubt if that's in the LOM's plans.

so if a top OAD player came to UNC, you would be all for him just quitting????....or be of the persuasion that that is what he should do?

As a fan, of course not. As a parent of a top 3 lottery pick worth $35 mil, yes I would. It should be understood that OAD players, by definition, desire to get to the NBA and make big bucks ASAP.

Now if he'd only played in a couple of games, it would be different. But he's played in enough games to solidify his draft status. If dook fans say they can't understand this, I think they're being disingenuous.

i get the parent angle...but if thats the case why even play, just sit the year out and train???.....but the same way it appears that bagley has nothing left to prove, the same could be said about Giles in that he had everything to prove considering his injury circumstance

Because you improve more and validate your draft status by playing against good competition. Bagley has done that.

OTOH, I think Giles should have rehabbed a year at dook and then played a year, because he hadn’t proved himself at the college level. Two totally different situations.

Bagley was gonna play as soon as he rested the knee a couple weeks. Now if he tweaks it again between now and the tourney he might shut it down til the draft.
