The "federal privacy laws" piece has me a bit concerned that it's something legally related.

If it is grades, Felton is likely one and done after all.

And Woods was the correct answer all along for next season.

An allegation not filed wouldn't be pending yet nor an arrest over this weekend or later. They don't pop up day of. So it is still not ruled out.
Um arrest absolutely pops up day of or after because it goes into a NC crime system as and at least one arrest record or citation record is printed out for media and public. If Jalek was in legal trouble we would have known.

I would bet if it were an arrest, we would know already. Not likely grades, mainly because he has only been a student for 1 semester and I have never heard of anyone being suspended from school for grades after one semester. You get put on academic probation, then, if you don't improve, you lose scholarships and student loan money, but you have to be at the bottom longer than he has been here to get tossed.

I suspect it is an honor code violation or something more serious than that. Perhaps an allegation of some kind of assault, where charges haven't been filed yet or an investigation is still ongoing or something along those lines. Perhaps some kind of drug related offense or alcohol violation or something along those lines, but given how fast he was tossed from the school, I can't help but think it is more serious than a keg party or pot possession.

Regardless, I hope that he gets himself straightened out if he is guilty of whatever he allegedly did.

I may be wrong but I can’t see this being grades. Standard practice with grades would be a semester of academic probation. He’s only completed one semester so he should’ve been on probation if it was grades.

To be suspended by the university, this almost has to be something more.

This is freakin nuts, Now Berry has to play nearly 40 mpg while Woods is injured. Unbelievable.

I'm leaning toward Honor Code violation as well. That's the only explanation I can think of considering he was suspended by the university, rather than the coaching staff. Not going to speculate, but this doesn't look good.

OK, so IMO this is not just about grades, it is more than that, he was not suspended from the team, he was suspended from the school. So this is either honor code (cheating, not attending classes) or could be crime blotter but be willing to bet that we have seen the last of Jalek as a Tar Heel. I have heard that 7th's rumors of maybe being gone have been put aside, glad to hear, now it kinda looks like we know who our starting PG may be next season and it isn't likely to be Jalek.

That is no indicator one way or the other. Could be pretty much anything as far as the Privacy Act goes. Honor code maybe? Dunno at this point, but either way it ain't good.

That just made my stomach hurt for a variety of reasons, Dave. Obviously for his sake, I'm hoping for the best outcome for Jalek personally. As for the team, if we've seen the last of him we are in deep, deep sh** next season.

I would be shocked if Jalek ever suits up for UNC again. Nothing to back that up, just a gut feeling. You don't get suspended from the university and then have them later tell you it's OK to come back, no harm, no foul. If they took that drastic of a step, it is serious.

So, I apologize for the rant, but I have to. WTH is wrong with these kids? I mean, you are playing the sport you love for one of the best programs in the country, everything is paid for and you do something to not only get you put off the team, but the entire school? I guess it is a difference in mentality with today's kids not appreciating what they have.

When my oldest was at orientation at WCU 2 years ago, a kid with a full ride on the football team was kicked out and had his scholarship rescinded because he was caught smoking pot IN the dorm at orientation. Kid had never practiced with the team, much less played and his college career was over because he was too damn stupid to wait until he got home to toke up.

Now, I have no idea what happened in this instance, but IF he did something stupid that was severe enough to get kicked out of school, then I am just baffled at how easily he would throw his opportunity away.

Man I hate that. As we all do I am sure. I am a huge fan of this kid and I hope and pray whatever it is that this doesn’t define him. I sure hope he gets this fixed and gets back on track. So much of a God given talent it would be a real shame if this is his career.

Our starting PG next year is Coby White. Not saying Seventh won't get a shot, but I guarantee by end of the season we're rolling with Coby

I do not know about NC in particular but most crimes have a few days (some up to a year) before they are filled and charged as the police decide what to charge you with.

Maybe North Carolina just rushes to the gate. I do not know. Most States they have paperwork and stuff to fill out and are not filed right away.

He is probably done at UNC for good, but he is definitely done at UNC for the year, right?. He can't go to class as he is suspended from the University?

He cannot go to class while suspended.

We should be looking into available 2018 PG's. Quinerly is fantastic.

Arrest in NC are usually reported in a day or two. The police can enter the reason for the arrest. The charges could change, but a reason is listed.

The arrest record is made public immediately on nc
