That's possible, but that seems more like something he would be suspended from the team for and not the school. I can't imagine the school suspending him before he is even charged with a crime.
Im with you on that, hopefully he can get some rest with shifting Theo to the 1 for some spurts, Theo definitely has the playmaking ability to do this and he did take more of a ball handler role last game and excelled at it. For one, he definitely knows the offense and where everyone needs to be, you always see him moving guys on both ends of the floor.
I’m really hoping that we can get that some of that same production from Theo tonight as he is able to get into the lane and draw contact, I would like to see him go to the line 10 times and knock them all in. I’ve always wanted to see Theo be the primary ball handler and now just may be the right time to see what he can do, and maybe if he does well at it Roy will think about shifting Joel to the 2 to get him some more looks off the ball where he get some more catch and shoot opportunities from 3 and get into the lane off of an off ball screen.
I hope all the best for Jalek and wanted as badly as anyone to see this kid succeed, but this may actually open up some different opportunities for us and we may be able to find a combo that works and will make us better down the road.
I still say grades trying to find concrete prrob but insiders on tos are just speculating as well
I agree. It is so hard for Joel to be a primary scorer with him having to do everything else. He needs help for someone to help set him up. That is where I always believed he excelled. It is just not his game to create for his own shots. Although he has gotten absolutely no love from the officials when he drives. It’s funny we all see these ticky tack fouls 30 feet from the basket but when Joel drives or his defender is hedging a screen he gets popped and no call.
Only thing grades related that I can think of that might get him kicked out of school would be cheating. And I mean blatant, wide scale cheating. And that would only be because of what we just went through.
I still say if it got him kicked out of school, it had to be serious. I sincerely hope it wasn't criminal and I really hope it isn't something that will ruin someone else or him for life.

Wow... so stupid if true. I’d say there is no coming back from that based on what the school has been through recently.

from what i remember, you CAN be suspended from the university & put on 'academic probation' for the semester. i knew someone who left Chapel Hill for a semester b/c their gpa was too low and did not meet the min guideline to maintain admission. and i believe he too was a freshman as well back then.

At this point nobody knows. Honor code violation would make sense though. We know it isn't an arrest and wouldn't be because of low grades.
Random... Just searched "Jalek Felton" on twitter and this was one of the tweets. Not saying he's credible or not (probably not) just bringing up it most likely is an honor code violation
Well at least we won’t have to hear the debate about how he should see more minutes despite the fact we are -75 on the year in his limited minutes.....
In today's climate I wouldn't be surprised for anything to happen at first complaint...it's devolved into witch hunt/hysteria.
Maybe this will light a fire under everyones asses. Would be really nice if tonight the shots start to fall again... I'll be interested to see how this whole thing plays out in regards to why Jalek was suspended and how it will affect the team. I'm hoping this is one thing that helps UNC turn a corner and, "play hard, play smart, and play together" for the remainder of this season. Sometimes things like this can have a way of uniting a team. Time will tell.

Today's kids? Is it really anything new for student athletes (or college kids in general) to get in trouble for grades/drugs/alcohol/sex/fighting/you name it?
I for one am ready to embrace my Lord and savior Seventh as Starting PG next year.
Just a heads up but the NCAA is supposed to rule to allow transfers without sitting out this off-season. So, we could potentially get a transfer in also.

It isn't grades. Those kids progress reports come though athletics every two weeks. His advisor and athletics would have been all over him had it been grades.
He was suspended from participating in ALL University activities.

You mean just like that dismissed from school? Even if so, there's no probation etc. Unless it's a repeat violation but he hasn't been there long enough.

Jalek just never looked like he wanted to be at UNC. Oh well, wish the best to him. That being said Roy really needs to sign another kid in the 18’ class.
