Kanon Catchings (BYU) commits to Georgia over UNC

We didn't "lose" him... We got him on campus and dd not like the fit, my guess is even the staff was surprised. I am thinking that a question came up concerning Drake caused concern.
Purdue fan on Reddit claims that Catchings demanded a starting spot, and when Matt Painter wouldn't promise him the starting spot Catchings decommitted.
What I do know is this kid was brought in because of a family relationship to our new GM. So for this to fall apart immediately after an official visit just looks bad. Whatever demands this kid has about money and playing time should have gotten worked out before the visit. That's the GM's job.

To me nah, just part of the process. Get him in and move or don't from there. Truncated recruitment in the portal compared to out of high school.
I’ve said on this forum before Painter himself didn’t name names. However right after he decommitted from PU Painter publicly said players want spots handed to them without having to do the work.
I love that UNC is still honest with players and still manage to get peeps without promising the moon! Any player not willing to earn his spot needs to be in a different uniform to me! I love the way our team is shaping up and to me we are 1 shooter/scorer away from perfection!

I don’t think it was that…UNC pressed him to commit and when he didn’t we moved on…Hubert and UNC found out last year you can’t wait around for guys or you will end up with nobody…
He asked for more money after he said he was coming. That is what happened.
He tried to get us to match UGA, so we moved on to Stevenson.
HD job is on the line, no time to wait. Having a GM helps, he knows when a deal is dead and moves on. HD may have waited if he didn't haver Tanner. HD to emotional to properly negotiate in this new era. He wants players to still be amazed when the see the Dean Dome, when the play HS gamed at MSG.
I'm so proud that Hubs and his staff stuck to their guns! Even in the Wild West peeps believed a man's word was his bond and a deal is a deal. Once a person tries to renegotiate an agreed upon deal, he is not Family material IMO! A GM with Tanners connections + knowledge is far more than help, he is game changing!
Peeps have to see how much more effective recruiting has been since the GM arrived! (and the money became competitive)
