Kenny Williams shooting...

I think Kenny will show how good of a shooter he really is next season. I like his game and feel his outside shooting will really help the Tar Heels next season.

I strongly agree Smoovy but don't just consider him a shooter, we have a better all around player there than many realize. Kid got the rep as a shooter because that was what was needed from him his senior season but this is an kid that plays well in most every aspect you will want to see for A 2 guard.

One aspect I really like about him as a shooter is that he does not take bad shots, if it is a shot within his comfort zone and can square up on balance he will take it but he will not throw up the heat checks that LMac used to drive me nutzs with. He just does what his team needs him to do and constantly works on his game, gym rat kinda kid.

I have said it, I think he is our best canidate to take over Marcus's vacated spot, Roy has a ton of respect for this kid and Tar Heel fans are going to love what they see from him. I know this much, someone else may begin the season starting for us at the 2 guard spot but they are going to have their hands full holding on to that starting spot with Kenny in the hunt. 7th and BRob will get their shots at it as well, strongly suspect the day 1 starter will not end the season as a starter at that position.

Kenny is a good solid kid and player. team guy. Does what his team needs, rebound, defense and so on. Decent size at 6'3" or just shy of 6'4", if we go small I'd love to see him in the open court running with Theo and JBII and Justin...dang I'm smiling.... with a side of IH or KM or TB...

I don't really know much more now about Kenny's shooting than I did before he came to UNC. I mean, let's face it, he only took 13 3-pt shots last year - and only made 1.

What I liked about his shot in HS (in addition to his good percentage) was his high release. But I wasn't sure he was getting his shot off quickly enough for that high release to be as effective against college defenders.

I think that's still an unanswered question.

I liked how Kenny handled himself on the court in real game situations. Didn't wow me, but he seemed to understand his role and moved well. Smooth. Alert. So that's a good sign.

If I were assigning him something to work on, it would be a step-back jumper. A step-back combined with his high release should give him space to get the shot off, or invite defenders to foul him (and he shoots FTs well).

I would maybe modify what Kenny needs to do slightly by saying he need to show the threat of being able to put the ball on the floor and finish either above the rim or with a floater. That allows the step back jumper to get that extra half step with the defender having to be ready for the drive.

KW is my pick for next year's surprise star. I think he will show one of UNC's patented second year leaps in effectiveness. I fully expect him to start for a good portion of the year!
