PJ Hairston, who Roy said is the best 3 point shooter he has ever recruited, shot 27% his freshman year and near 40% his sophomore year. To say a jump shot is a jump shot and rule Kenny Williams a finished product is mind boggling.

Not exactly the same thing but still a great point.PJ Hairston, who Roy said is the best 3 point shooter he has ever recruited, shot 27% his freshman year and near 40% his sophomore year. Sounds like his strength coming out of high school was 3pt shooting to me. Did you just start watching basketball? Serious question.
I've always wondered that. Why is it that guys come to UNC forgetting how to shoot? Sure, some have improved greatly by the time they are seniors, but why do our freshmen always struggle?
I don't how some of you can excuse a horrible jump shot or little offensive game by saying they are freshmen. See it all the time on this board. A jump shot is a jump shot at all levels. Do these guys flat out forget how to shoot between high school and their freshman year? Real shooters don't look that bed and then all of a sudden become great. I think Roy just doesn't recruit great shooters and hasn't had one in a long time. Expecting much out of maye and km is setting yourself up to be disappointed.
Serious answer: I don't understand how guys can be so bad at shooting just because they are freshmen. It somes other outstanding freshmen can shoot on their teams. Why do our freshmen not do it very well and it gets excused on this board "because they are freshmen".
I liked the way Kenny was moving his feet on defense yesterday. Also liked Luke draining the 3 pointer.
Bingo! You have to earn the right to play and you start doing so by playing "D" FIRST in the North Carolina system.
Many struggle making the jump from High School to College. That is the quick easy answer to your question.
mike, does this sentiment also apply to chase jeter?

It does, but Kenny was top 80ish recruit, while Jeter was top 10-15?
