I admit I've been a bit harsh in the past, but I also believe that we shouldn't our collective panties in a twist every time a duke poster comes on here.
Don't think we do tinman. But most don't come here to just talk basketball. A few do and they still come around from time to time.
I know, during the scandal it seems no one would come over wanting to talk basketball and we all developed an "Us against the world" attitude. Now that the clouds are clearing out some may actually come over and just talk hoops, let's give them that chance. If they abuse it, they will be gone!

Green, you just nailed the point! See that is the thing, dukies want to come here and discuss then by all means do so but you don't get to come here, state your own opinions as fact, talk down to Tar Heels in their own house and not get smacked back for the effort.
There is a small group that didn't like the treatment of a dukies a while back, again, it was a dukie coming here stating his opinions as fact and even if we agreed that things may work out according to his opinion, it isn't fact until after it has occurred. Tried respectfully to explain that, he didn't want to listen so it had to be explained in terms he could understand. The result was a small group of Tar Heel fans that for some reason felt the need to defend dukies from other Tar heel fans...
I'm fine with respectful dookies bringing information to our board but they are not entitled to their own facts. They can post that stuff on their own board. If I want to be lectured to by an apostle of the great satan, the LOM, I'll drive to New Jersey and listen to the first one I see. Shouldn't take long once I'm there.
If they would just throw in the occasional "I think" or "IMO", what they say would be much more palatable. I try to do this when I post because I can have some pretty strong opinions myself. And I understand that subjective things posted imply "I think" or "IMO", that what you're posting is your opinion. But when someone definitively states "there's no way player X is coming to UNC", and that player is still undecided and hasn't eliminated us, it riles some people up. One of our posters here was raked over the coals for saying we were still in the running for player X just because dook or UK were considered the heavy favorites. It's all in the wording.
Regardless, everyone should always remember that what they read here is opinion based, nothing more and nothing less, and certainly nothing to get bent out of shape about.

You make it sound like I'm defending a child rapist or something. They simply root for a rival team and they should have the right to talk about basketball without getting shouted down.

You're insane if you believe this. You're just sensitive to the fact that he posted a different opinion. I'm not saying I even agree with it. I think our chances for Knox are high and who goes to the NBA and who doesn't as a big impact, both with Carolina and duke. But maybe just consider for one second he's not here to stir the pot.

He could've said all of what he did in about one sentence-instead he dragged it out over 3 blabbering paragraphs saying the same thing over and over, and not much of it made any logical sense.Yes, I think he was trolling. All I know, is that in the past whenever a dookie wanted to talk basketball he's been treated very poorly. And if this were skysdad or one of the other obnoxious c**ts over there I wouldn't care. But I think we need to be less suspicious of people.
I got it man. I just joined here but have followed the board for awhile. I agree its cool having legit posters from dook or wherever who want to talk hoops. But his post struck me as pretty bizarre. No one types like that lol.

However, I do want to say that I have little bias here because I don't root for duke, I root for Carolina. And I welcome any civil discussion by any fan. I hate duke, but I don't hate someone simply because they're a fan of them.

By the way there is a post in the "Alex Murphy" thread by a dook fan that is thoughtful and is expressed as an opinion. Our posters accepted him and even partially agreed with his points.
He was treated with all due respect and he gave as good as he got.

It is not without reason at all. Only in cases where I think jumping all over the guy is unjustified. As for calling out other UNC fans, it's about the overall vibe and feeling on this board. Not because I'm a secret duke fan or something.
Absolutely. And if he gets smart, than by all means, have at him. All I'm saying is that in this particular case, I don't this particular dook fan was out to troll the board.
