I LOVE watching youth baseball. Kids still love the game and aren't playing because their mommy or daddy is living their dreams out through them. Best years of my life were coaching youth baseball. Absolutely loved it.
That is why I love HS and college ball so much, too. I used to live for Braves baseball, but I don't know the last time I watch pro ball on TV. We catch some games for the local minor league here, but, to me, nothing beats watching kids play.
My youngest got to go to the Dixie Youth World Series when he was 11. Played on a team that made it through to play in Lynchburg with teams all over the South. He loved it and so did I. Guest speaker that week was none other than Sid Bream, so I was really in heaven. Super nice guy and took the time to talk to all of us one on one.
My son's team got bounced early, but it is a memory he will have the rest of his life and I sure do miss those days watching him play. He sure loved playing, but his last year playing HS ball about did him in. He missed last season (junior year) with a back injury, so I doubt he will even try out this year even though it is his senior year.
Congratst o your hometown team! hope they win it all!
