First, says Lonzo is better than Stephen Curry and if Curry was on UCLA they would be worse.

Second, says he wants a one billion dollar deal for lonzo and his other two kids in HS as a package deal, but he is willing to take 100 million a year for 10 years.

Third, said he would have crushed Michael Jordan in 1 on 1.

He's an idiot. I find myself hoping Lonzo Ball falls flat on his face in the tourney because of his dad unfortunately.

This new $1B shoe deal is comical. What's even better is he's publicly doing it while Lonzo Ball is in college, and 2 other kids are still in high school with both headed to UCLA, 1 next year and another a few years behind. A big disconnect between amateur/NCAA and this family. They aren't sketchy at all.....clean as can be.

What he is doing is basically setting ALL of his kids up to fail. I get having supreme confidence in your kids' ability, but you have to have some semblance of objectivity too!

Also, want to add that if Lonzo is better than Curry, I would expect anything less than a National Championship from UCLA would be a letdown. I mean, Curry did pretty much carry Davidson on his back to within 1 possession of the Final Four in 08.

Yeah, reminds me of the Williams sisters' dad when they were coming up in tennis. Good news for them was they were in an individual sport. And once he shut up, their careers and endorsements all were the better for it.

This guy is the type that takes a lot of the fun/.joy out of any sport.

I am no naïve school kid but my God all this talk of "branding" and shoe deals is really a joke

he is a combination of the Williams sisters dad and Earl Woods..with a little Pappa maranovich sprinkled in

His comments do give writers a lot to write about, and Charles Barkley even called him an idiot for his comments about Curry...

He does remind one of Richard Williams, but Williams' comments weren't quite as outrageous as this guy, and he did guarantee early on that UCLA would win the national title this season, so it will be interesting to see how that pans out?

Just think, we've got several more years of listening to father ball with a couple more ball kids coming to UCLA in the future!

It's really a shame for Lonzo because he is talented, and should be getting the press instead of his dad!

He has me rooting against his kid because he's that big of a moron.

Just sounds like another dad who wasn't anything on his own and now is using his kids to try to be everything he wasn't growing up.

Kinda tells me his little head is smarter than his big head...LOL

Bingo! Living vicariously through the kid(s), when in reality just using the kid to try to make himself somehow relevant or interesting....pathetic that he is insecure enough and has such a shallow meaningless life on his own to have to resort to this.

In a way, you could feel sorry for the kids. Or at least wish the kids could tell pops to shut up already.

The loudest guy in the room is usually the biggest idiot.

Despite him digging holes that his sons probably won't be able to climb out of with his boisterous claims, I can understand trying to build a brand for them. The NCAA & Colleges already do it themselves anyway.

Wait until guys in the league take it out in his kids. Not their fault but guys will definitely go hard at them because of their idiotic father.

this is all about brand and the publicity for it..he's got stones and props to him for it, but everyone knows the truth...plus, his shirts are awful looking and too expensive to begin this campaign.

go look at his stats in college...must have been a ball stopper.

Dad averaged 2 pts per game at Washington State so I am sure MJ is intimidated. So glad Roy learned his LA recruiting lesson with LD2 and Wear X 2.

I enjoy it... He makes a lot of outlandish comments, but his son will probably be the number 1 pick. It's a publicity stunt! No one thinks he could ever beat jordan... Get over it.

I get the argument for establishing a "brand" for the kids and doing what you can to help them succeed. I don't agree, but I at least understand it. Problem is, aside from some good games for Lonzo and the one monster game the kid brother had, what, exactly, have they done to warrant those comparisons?

Thing is, let them play their game and you won't NEED to say a word. The endorsements will come and so will the accolades. As it is, you opened your mouth and unless one or more exceeds everything the GOAT did on and off the court, you look like a fool. Jordan played a long time, took a break, came back and still dominated. Too many things can and do happen to players now that prevent them from coming close to what Jordan did. Ask Jay Williams. Ask Allen Iverson.

Stop opening your mouth, dad, and let the kids make their own name for themselves. If they succeed and you don't piss them off, maybe they will buy you a house and a nice car and let you follow them around for a while.

No they won't. Players don't care. Hell, that one NBA player's mom whined to Charles Barkley to make him stop picking on her son (Javelle McGee I think)

I don't know if he's an idiot or not. Him saying he can beat MJ, or wanting to play Barkley 1on1, or saying Lonzo is better than Steph Curry, or that his three kids should get a combined $1B shoe deal - those are absolutely idiotic comments. But, maybe he realizes that the morons in sports media these days will take a story like that and run with it to get a few page clicks. If he actually believes that stuff, he's a moron for sure - but if he's just saying that stuff to build exposure for his sons and get the ESPNs of the world to hype them up by giving them so much face time as a result, he might be smarter than we're giving him credit for.

His 2 younger kids are far from sure things to make the next level. Oldest is an excellent player who at least will be a fringe type AS caliber player in the league. I feel for Lonzo especially because he has that talent to be special. The other two might never get past playing ball overseas. His dad should treat them all as individuals and stop trying to lump them into this family brand. Because I have a feeling Lonzo will eventually leave the family business because his ability outshines the rest of his family members. The cream always rises.

I think he knows the other two are not nearly as special as the eldest. That could be more of the reason why he is doing what he is. They will need it to get drafted. Just like the third plumlee and seth curry. I can see the method to his madness. Every casual fan knows the name of Lamelo Ball but how many know the name of the number 1 player in this years class? MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! He has been like this since his sons have started playing, its just that now he has the worlds ear.

The guy is trying to get his 15 minutes of fame. The way he talks makes me believe he is dirty and would be more than willing to accept money. NCAA should really look into him. Oh wait, they are wasting their time at UNC.

I know he is a personal trainer and not sure who his clients are? But they live in a 5 bedroom house in suburban LA. I don't think they are hurting for cash unless the house and other stuff is under the table , back room type deals.
