Lane Kiffin has Ole Miss 8-2 after last night's win over Texas A&M. Ole Miss's losses were at Bama and at Auburn. The Aggies gave Bama its only loss. The Rebels best win before taking down the #11 ranked Aggies was over #13 ranked Arkansas.

Earlier in the day, Mike Leach's Mississippi St Bulldogs beat Auburn at Auburn. The 6-4 Bulldogs have 3 wins this season over teams that were ranked in the Top 16 in the country at the time of the game. They also have beaten LSU, which was ranked pre-season, and Arkansas, which had been ranked earlier in the season.

If either of those coaches had been able to take his team - including staff - and swap it with Mack Brown's team and staff, would he also be 5-5 right now against the schedule UNC has played? Aren't both Kiffin and Leach doing better than Brown this year against a much tougher schedule? Would Wake be a 1 loss now if it played in the SEC? Does anybody think that Mack could have his team and staff play the Ole Miss schedule and be better than 4-6 right now?

Well... we don't know, do we? We won't ever know. There is no way to ever know what might, could, or would have happened. But, we should definitely speculate and wonder about things that are eternal, subjective mysteries.

Now, do the state of Louisiana.., or, maybe Kansas. Kentucky? All the states that start with the letter N.

As good as both of those coaches might be, they both have baggage that I'd prefer not to have in Chapel Hill.

Mack has his faults but if he can keep the recruiting going, hopefully Bubba will hit a home run hire when Mack retires. It will definitely be a more attractive job with the incoming talent.

Bubba might be able to double dip into Mack's hometown of Cookville, TN., if Billy Napier doesn't get snatched up before Mack retires.

Is there any distant kinship there? Napier was raised primarily in GA, and it's possible that he was born in Cookeville because of parents who were not from the area but who were in school at Tenn Tech.

Napier has ACC experience, and he has Saban experience. It is insane to think that the Ragin Cajuns will have 3 consecutive double digit win seasons. Historically, that program sucks something awful.

Napier is not going to be in Lafayette for long.

Ole Miss and Miss St tonight both look much better coached than UNC has looked this season. The only glitch for either team is Miss ST WRs dropping 3 passes, 2 of which would have been for TDs.

If we had been able to trade our OL coach and his beloved 8 for the Ole Miss OL coach and his top 8, this team would have won another game or 2 or maybe even 3.

And it's not like Ole Miss has a boatload of 4* OL recruits they took from Bama, LSU, and UGA. Nor is it like Kiffin has had 4 or 5 years to get the Ole Miss OL as it should be.
