Sorry not to respond sooner, wasn't really online yesterday. I do think there are enough funny people for this movie to have potential; something that concerns me though is that it was actually supposed to be released last year and got pushed back on the release schedule about 4 times. It doesn't have a score on Rotten Tomatoes yet either, which probably means they didn't hold advanced screenings for the media or put a hold on reviews coming out, which generally happens when the studio doesn't have faith in it. So not sure what to make of that info. But I like Zach Galifianakis, I like Kristen Wiig (most of the time, she can go overboard), and it's directed by one of the guys who did Napoleon Dynamite which is a movie I really enjoy. I'm not sure I'll go to the theater to see it, but I'll probably watch it when it hits cable

Thanks heelz. Yeah, comedies can be so hit or miss. Hoping this one is good but the fact that they kept pushing out the release doesn't sound promising. Plus they are releasing during that down time between summer and the holidays, which is where mediocre movies usually get slotted. Hmmmm.

This movie is based loosely on the $17 mil heist of Loomis Fargo that took place in Charlotte, NC about 10 years ago. Most of the gang involved in this was from Gaston and Lincoln Counties and they did everything burglars are not supposed to do after a job. The Chambers were especially stupid because immediately moved from a trailer park into a $500K home in Cramer Mountain gated community and paid cash for it. Michelle chambers went out and got a boob job they she paid cash for. She would also periodically go to different banks with large amounts of cash asking the tellers how much she could deposit without them letting the IRS know. The bunch were locally referred to as the Cramer Mountain Hillbillies. The FBI staked them out from the beginning building a case against them and when they did move in on them they found cash stuffed in dog food cans, in mattresses, in 50 gallon barrels and any other container you could think of. Some of their former neighbors in Cramer Mountain swear that there is still cash buried in the yard somewhere because Steve Chambers came and borrowed a shovel from one of them right before the FBI moved in on them. Galifianakis plays the Loomis employee that loaded the van with the cash and took off to Mexico afterward with only $25,000 of the total. Chambers actually put out a hit on the guy after he did all the heavy lifting in the heist.

Yeah I actually think all of the "true crime" nature of it could help, because it's such a bizarre story, and I understand why they wanted to make it a comedy. I was fairly young when it happened, but I remember hearing about it and going "wow, what a bunch of dummies." There is definitely potential there, just gotta see how it turns out. Like I said, the fact they pushed it back makes me a little nervous about the end result, but there have been things in the trailer that looked funny
